is anyone using Zsuite for slicing? I tried it and it outputs a .photon file but the printer starts out saying 8% complete on the first raft layer. it prints the raft and then says 100% complete. i dont see where i get any settings to fix this. i was hoping to output an stl of the tray wiht supports but i also don't see that capability.

I was told to check out Prusa Slicer. Going through the setup wizard and I'm not sure about the firmware type on my Photon S. Prusa won't put out the .Photons file anyway so I should just set this to no extrusion? So I'd still need to use another slicer to output the G-code I need correct? Anyone in the know on this I'd appreciate the insight.

Hi Folks. Very happy with the result here. Background..

I am looking at ways to create a mask that can pickup the wearer's facial movement.. And these can be replayed on to a animatronic mask. For example - someone wearing werewolf mask can snarl, raise eyebrows, frown - and this is picked up and replayed via servo's, in real time, to the animatronic head.

EMG will not work - Sweat will invalidate the consistent readings due to conductivity.

This is my final design.. a small light weight linear sensor that will not react to sweat or moisture. The output is a simple analogue signal. Also most importantly - it needs to operate on the power of an eyebrow movement or other facial muscle twitch.

Now I have a resin printer I can print the parts an know they will be glass like smooth to stop friction.
What you see here are 3 x 3D printed shells. The graph paper is 1cm x 1cm for scale.
The PCB contains a QRE1113 sensor that has an IR light source and a Photo transistor. This board fits beneath the shell with the sensor showing through the hole.
The graduated laminated paper with the armature wire fits.. face down.. in to the shell channel.
A soft pad to hold it against the sensor yet still enable it to move freely will be applied on top.

The shell is fixed to a fixed spot above the eyebrow. The armature is glued to the eyebrow using an safe actors glue.
As the eyebrow moved up and down it will push the laminated paper over the QRE1113. The changes in reflectivity will cause the output voltage to changed and read by an Arduino or other. The accuracy is very good.

Enjoy

I utilised some of the foam protecting the photon to make my UV chamber, compared to some "normal" LED strips the output of this one seems quite weak, used both a 5W and a 10W power supply and got the same result, photos below were taken with and without ceiling light on, opinion from other people who used similar ones?

Long story short, I got a GREAT deal and just became an unexpected owner of a Photon, but I didn't get the tool bag or power supply. Could I please bother someone to look at the supply and let me know what the output voltage and amp rating might be? I tried Google, but came up empty handed. Can't wait to see what this baby can do!

I finished translating the interface of Photon S and decided to get a little deeper. The visible rendering of the background pictures was slightly annoying - weakly, but it was noticeable how they appeared from top to bottom. Brakes due to the fact that these pictures are read on the fly from the flash memory chip by one byte. 150 kilobytes - one byte each! ... I translated the reading on entire lines through DMA and the output of pictures was accelerated by almost 5 times. Now the eye does not see how they appear, they simply change dramatically, as it should be :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e-L1a1OxYok 翻譯年糕

I am going to get my printer tomorrow and have been pondering future upgrades. I am needing a reality check from those of you which have experience.

How much UV would be too much?

The stock UV source is listed at 25W, which I assume is INPUT power, not the UV OUTPUT power at 405nm. I have access to UV LED arrays of similar size to the original, but have 5 to 10 times more output power capability, still at 405nm. Would this speed things up, or would there be other limiting factors? Before anyone asks, the cooling solution and control circuitry for said UV LED is no problem. I would just have to make an interface between the existing circuitry and the printer's UV control circuits.

I am assuming I could speed things up some (basically like the 'S') but just how fast could I realistically go? Would it be worth doing?

Thanks in advance for your advice.

So this was weird... z-suite now supports .photon output. Works great!
