Anycubic Photon Printer Owners 造訪社團 » 40W

Anybody tried a dental scaler with a sharpened tip for cutting off supports? There are Ultrasonic types at about 75GBP and up, and Pneumatic heads only for about 25GBP (+ 6.5GBP for a connection hose), requiring about 3bar air. I saw a video of someone who sharpened the tip of a piezo model and it seemed to work pretty well, but they are only about 20W compared to 40W or so for a pukka ultrasonic craft knife.

Poor man's printer heater. Based on old laptop heatpipe + fan, hairdryer heater, and kapton tape. Provides 40W of heat. Outside temp around 10C°. Looks like s**t but it works

Hi all, just wanted some help, I need to replace the power supply for my photon as the cats chewed through the cable! I know from the specs of it I need a 12v 5a 40w power supply. I can see plenty of ones of amazon that are the same 12v 5a but are 60w output.

I realise that the voltage and amps are the same but would the wattage cause issues ?

Cheers Jim

hmm.. went looking for a uv lamp today at my local hydroponics shop. lol the smallest led uv lamp they had was a 1000w for 100 pounds. lol. think that would bake my prints in a microsecond. i will stick with the peopoly 40w uv. lol

Temperature is a recurring theme on these pages. When I got my second machine towards the end of last year, I decided to do a side by side comparison. My first machine had already been modified to incorporate temperature control in the print area (more later). I printed the same file on the two printers side by side at the same time. Room ambient temperature was 15C and in my modified machine the print area was at 27C. The print from the temperature controlled machine was definitely crisper and so I modified number 2.

On the top of each printer is a digital temperature controller with a sensor that can be seen to the right of the z slide in the picture. This controls a constant temperature PTC electric fan heater (12V 150W) that is stuck to the floor of the print chamber to the left of the z slide. The fan is always on to circulate the air and blows onto the back of the printer. A separate 12V 20A PSU drives the heating system for both machines. The extraction fan is disconnected so as not to suck out the warm air and the fumes that some find bothersome. I have the upper temperature set for 27C with 1C range. Delay typically takes the temperature down to 25.9C before rising to an overshoot of about 27.8C. This is air temperature and so the thermal mass of the VAT and resin smooths this out to probably just under 27C. The result is total consistency of prints and no discernable difference between the machines. All parts came from Amazon. From KKmoon 200-240V Digital temperature Controller thermocouple -40C to 120C with Sensor. With hind sight, I should have got the 12V model. From Kggy-eu Constant Temperature PTC Electric Fan Heater for Car Small Space Heating Incubator (12V 150W). Remove a mounting lug from this to allow it to be stuck to the base plate.. From LEDSONE LED Power Supply Unit 240Watts 12V 20A Constant Voltage DC. This is good for driving two heating systems.

The Photon took a toll on me! A month ago it stopped printing. Nothing but a base layers with some parts of support on it. A month of messaging with the support team, a month of frustration.

Yesterday I decided to try Lorenzo Karavania 's brilliant idea to rise UV output power to 40W. I highly recommend this modification, as it really changed the cure time and quality. Please have look at the tests printed before and after the modification.

Though, my photon has failed again on the actual object. I ran out of ideas ☹️ ?

Hi Everyone, it's me again, since my last post got a lot of success, here is a quick guide on how to Increase Photon's led power to 40W.
First off, get the bottom unscrewed and disconnect lcd and fan. Then locate the green pcb where the Led wires are attached. Then you need to unsolder both sides, keep in mind the orientation and wire location, if you can get a picture of the board before, then get your new resistor and desolder the old ones, and replace it with the new one, CSRN2512FKR200 is the part number but any resistor with same specs will do the job, see the picture for reference. If you want to make something more, there is a schottky diode just under the aluminium cap, the black square with 2 legs on the bottom right, place another schottky diode on top of it and solder it to the bottom one, this would help the diode to carry more current SS54 is the part number, this step is not needed but will help the module to run cooler.
Put everything back where it was and job done!
But wait there's more, i've started thinking to put up something like a kit that has a wide led array like https://www.fepshop.com/…/paraled-upgrade-kit-for-phrozen-…/ for everyone to install in their printers. But i need first to check if there is interest. Keep in mind that the price for something like that could very easily get over 100$.
