Is it safe to keep your printer uncovered? I always print with the printer covered with a box because I'm scared of the UV curing the resin in the vat. I have the one with the yellow glasses.

Is it safe to leave it uncovered even when near a window?

Hi guys I currently looking to build myself a isolated enclosure to keep the heat.
I live in Canada and all my printing gear is in the heated garage because of the fumes and in case of a resin mess. That being said the garage temp in winter is between 2 to 10 Celsius plus big temp shift everytime I open up the garage door. I would rather have a 25 to 35 degree enclosure to keep the printers warm when they print.

So here's what I had in mind:
Wooden structure frame with construction styrofoam pannel probably 3 inch thick with a layer of alumium paper to reflect heat, a powerbar inside with a tiny heater with a thermostat. I would put a fan with filter perhaps even a tube that goes outside for fumes. Led inside lighting and mobile controlled webcam to check print failure while I am at work and potentially a power off wi-fi switch for the powerbar that I can trigger. Last thing a uv curing chamber at the bottom under the printers.

What guys think? Any ideas? I will show drawings soon and 3d model of what I got in mind to get more of your valuable feedback :) thanks!

Hello! What UV lamps are people using for post curing? Even better if you have amazon links and they're good value for money :D

Just started my first print. :) I used the Flint Read method for leveling so hope all goes well. It is printing the photon cube. Any tips on how long it should be in the UV. I bought a 35w nail (half sphere) unit that sits above a mirrored turntable.

Hi everyone,

I am thinking about buying the Photon, but am hesitant due to a few reasons.

I am mainly interested in making functional parts so have these concerns:

1. Are there any good resins on the market with performance characteristics similar to PLA, ABS, or PETG? Or are they all very brittle?

2. Does anyone know how long prints can last when used outside? (Does extended UV affect them negatively?)

3. Is the first layer flush with the rest of the print, or does it "elephant foot" at the bottom?

Thank you for your time! :)

Allright, heres a million dollar idea:
What if someone make uv resin that its changing collor according of exposure time, and than "locking" at that particular color, once "activated"? We could literally have full color sla printers, all we need to do is to set exposure time on certain parts by using software that can set every layer pixels exposure separately. Not sure if i explained this well now...

So I had planned on using the 4 bazillion wat UV light provided by God to do my curing.. but he seems to turn out all the lights each night.. also since Maryland has seemingly moved to the tropical rain forest UV rays are pretty scarce these days. I guess It is off to Amazon to get a lamp.

I've seen some chat lately about reusing IPA so I took a stab at it but am having problems.

Originally my IPA was tinted green from the resin. I uv cured out for about 10/15 min and it came out looking like milk.

Now I am filtering it, and nothing is straining out. I've used one of the included filters and a coffee filter, to no avail.

Anyone have any ideas?
