Ok on FDM printers the z axis is limited to the smallest microstep of the motor. The lead screw looks to be 0.5mm/rev. The motor will be stepped in fractions of a turn. This can limit the resolution due to quantization error.

For example if the microstep is 1/32 of a turn and one turn is 0.5mm so the min step is actually 0.015625 and all steps must be a multiple of this. (Nb this is an example! )

Does the photon have the same limit? What is the minimum step on the motor?

Hey, so with the most recent flash sale, I ended up picking up a Photon again (now that i've found resin that doesn't give me a headache, it's time for round 2)! Are there any FDM printed parts/additions which are considered a must-print?

I'm definitely looking for any vent/filter recommendations, as well as heater (if needed?). And then just any other tools that people have found useful.

Do resin printers suffer the same issues w non manifold models that FDM printers do? Truth be told I bought a model on CGTrader and upon cursory inspection I saw a lot of overlapping polygons, separated objects, and some non manifold faces and the like. I know that on an FDM printer those are red flags, but I don’t know if they mess up the same way on a DLP. I left a review about the model on his product page, and now they’re asking me to send pictures of my print to try an troubleshoot.

Did I provide a poor review for no reason? AITA for reviewing before actually trying to print it D:

First post here, I will be getting my photon Thursday and want to make these knobs as well as others that we can't get anymore.

How dimensionally accurate is the photon? Will I have to adjust for tolerences like in FDM printing?

Dear Photon-Masters, I have a couple of questions to put to the group. 1) Is there a resin which is not so brittle, similar in strength to say ABS/PETG (rigid, but with a little flex) 2) If you have said resin and experience printing with it, is there anyone who would be willing to print a couple of parts for me at a reasonable cost? I'm based in the UK. They are Y rod holders for an FDM printer I'm building and my other printer is out of action. Thank you!

Hey Folks,

I'm trying to combine parts printed on my Photon with parts printed on a FDM printer. The FDM printer prints to exact scale but the Photon is just a shade larger.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a way to calibrate the printer or will I need to scale down the Photon prints in the slicer?

Hi All, I just got my first DLP printer, an Anycubic Photon. Pretty excited. I have it all setup in my shop, got the leveling done, and the software installed.

Just wondering if there is any document on setting up the params for a print. Some sort of "if you are doing 0.5mm height, use these settings with anycubic resin" type thing. I'm experienced with FDM printers, but DLP is new to me.

For my third print I tested a complex detailed skull print. I mean, what the heck, why not?! This little printer is awesome!!! Took 11hrs. I’d give it a 9 out of 10 for this print. Anycubic green resin with auto-generated supports (I didn’t add or remove any), default green profile. Had a few supports early on in the print fail so the teeth got messed up. Also, two lines developed near the top of the skull. Not sure why? I’m more familiar using Meshmixer for supports back when I did FDM printing. Auto generated supports by Meshmixer were almost always perfect. Any tips for supports in Photon’s software? Anyone use Meshmixer’s supports with the Photon?
