A random speed-sculpt of the day: a fish ? this is what normal people do during the weekend...right? Pretty excited to have a few days just to practice and test out new things without having a deadline. Just a few more weeks and then I can start my personal projects... and maybe even print something for fun. Oh, and fix the z-wobble. Yuck.

Live update from my workshop ? printed these parts on sunday (Bluecast x5). My Photon has apparently started to crap z-wobs on me and I have no time atm to fix it. I'll try to fix it later. Had to sand the prints quite a bit, but fortunately, you can do miracles once its cast. So, got this set cast this morning: sugar shovel and a gardening rake. 925-sterling. Shovel got a lot of love: filing, sanding and silicon wheels and it's now ready to be soldered. That's next, soldering the parts together.
Workshop news: my husband received a sticker machine. There's now a sticker on every available item in this household...I even got my own: "Julestools". Asked if he meant My tools or christmas poo? He grinned and left. Another unsolved mystery.

Making a little sugar shovel and a gardening rake for a client, that's going to be cast next week. You can shovel away as much of sugar as your heart desires...and then hide the evidence with the rake ? Yesssss, it's nice to do something a bit "bigger" than set 1mm stones and then spend a good portion of the day trying to find the 10+ fallen buggers somewhere among the land of dust and metal bits...oh, the memories. Soon I'll have time to create my own projects again, can't wait! Hope you guys are doing good ?

Hey guys and gals. Finished a charm I speed-sculpted last friday, printed on saturday and cast on monday with a dozen similar metal-artisan's-butt-on-fire-speed. I love summer, but holy freaking nachos, it's intense ?
Resin used: Bluecast x5, cast in 925-silver and printer used is our beloved Photon.
Button is for size reference: 11mm.

Here's a little something for those who are new to the printer/slicer or are still struggling with where to place your supports with the original Photon slicer.
If you're like me, you have most likely ignored the black line that you get when placing supports, right? Don't be like me, don't ignore it ? It shows the layers as it's going to be printed. I've learned to see where I need supports, BUT this little line will make your life super easy and you'll get zero islands. All manual. No crappy auto-support used. Took me 10 seconds.
When you move your mouse over the pattern, look for Loops. Each loop is an unsupported area, which will need a support. When you get a continuous line, that part is ok and will not need anything. It's self-supporting. When you're done, you can use the awesome File Validator tool to check if you've missed something. 99% of the time, it's all clean. (picture shown is not the best orientation, that you can ignore! ? )

It's Spring! These take a lot of work, but it's worth it. Original printed with Photon and Bluecast x5. Cast in 925 sterling silver and applied glass enamel with a torch. Going to be making a whole field of flowers ?

Zbrush training week! This months theme is going to be all about lizards; anatomy and texture. Made a few base meshes for rings and pendants/earrings, that still need some work before they're ready for casting, but getting there ? now I'm itching to create a dragon ring.

Hey! Some new things cast in silver. Originals were printed with Photon, made molds from the prints (FTD industrial) to produce wax patterns and then cast ?
PS. Please don't ask what kind of casting setup you should buy. I get these kind of questions pm'd almost daily and it has simply started to take too much of my time. For reference, It's called investment casting or lost wax casting, a local supplier can help you a lot better than I can ❤️

Tom Kuebler was doing a live feed yesterday! Such an amazing sculptor. There's a different sculptor every Wednesday giving these live tours around their workshop. They talk about their process and answers questions sent by other users. Inspirational stuff.
