Well. For anyone who is wondering what to do with their rafts, trim them, cute them, and use them as base plates for minis!!!

Ok. A buddy of mine asked me to print a set of DnD dice. Easy right? Wrong!!!

Braille dice are a while different ballgame!!!

The raised edges, dots and jagged ridges on these make supports a PAIN IN THE ASS! So many islands!!

Some of them printed well, others did not lol

I had to add supports manually due to the amount of TINY ISLANDS on those ridges. Took me a while to get the support settings where they would not be too big for the edges and not clip into the model.

Pic #1: From left to right, back row. D4, D6, D8. Front row left to right. D10, D12, D20.

Pic #2: This D4...I have NO idea how that failure happened lol yes likely not enough supports. I had like 5 heavies on the bottom too. 1 towards each corner and 1 at the bottom center. Didn’t need to angle it case the ends are rounded and the sides are essentially flat.

Pic #3: The bottom corner of the D6
is flat. I had a lot of heavy supports on the edges and one on the top so no idea why that failed the way it did.

Pic #4: The D8 survived.

Pic #5: The D10 also survived.

Pic #6: The D12 also survived.

Pic#7 & 8: The D20...it had plenty of supports. Not sure why it failed.

Well, at least I got half of the set to print.

Just gonna have to reprint those 3(technically 4 since a full DnD set
calls for at least 2 D20s)

Questions/feedback etc. would helpful and appreciated!!!

UGH this is the third time Chitubox has had a scaling glitch!!!

When you upload a print that has parts and you hit SELECT ALL and scale them together, then you start moving them around the build area and rotating and turning them so they fit nicely, sometimes, for what ever god damn reason, Chitubox decides it wants to make one of them a few microns bigger or smaller and your print doesn’t fit together!!!

Are there any other good slicers out there that don’t have this problem?

I know that a few other people mentioned some in other posts but it’s way too early to excavate those from the page lol

Please and thanks.

Hmmm. It seems her boots AND her head are too much for her body to handle!!! ? ?

I guess I didn’t scale these properly!!

I think I will go into mesh mixer and just have to adjust the parts and snap them together then export for use in the slicer!! Maybe even combine them into one model.

Actually, some of the parts came pre hollowed but they are done very well. I think more attention to scaling will work.

Man and I was so excited when this print finished!!!

Well. We love and we learn right? lol

This post isn’t going to be specifically about 3D printing, but related to it. I am not trying to be mean or rude to anyone, just being honest about how we should all praise someone for their accomplishment and not criticize them for not doing as good or having the same materials as someone else. There is just a right way and a wrong way to do it.

Example. When someone posts their work, and people reply with comments and advice, if someone says to you “Thanks. I’ll consider doing that in the future.” This means that they have received your message and will use that advice when it suits them.

Is you try keep convincing someone by posting half a dozen pictures comparing their work to your own for the sake of encouraging them to get what you have, that is the WRONG way to approach the situation.

When someone thanks you for the input, don’t keep browbeating them with reply after reply trying to convince someone to buy something better, or “those work best.” well we all can’t have the best at the drop of a hat.

Stuff like that gets annoying very quickly.

It makes some people get very upset, and it makes them feel like their work is inadequate. As much as you THINK you are helping someone, you are not.

The internal reaction you are generating in people is “Well, Compared to my stuff your stuff is complete garbage and you should use what I use otherwise your stuff will always look like shit. Trust me.”

Some of us are overly critical about our own skills and spamming comments on someone else’s post with your exquisite looking prints with expensive paints doesn’t do them any good. It only makes them feel worse about their ability.

This is of course not true for everyone.

If someone asks you for advice, then by all means give them advice. Just don’t keep beating a dead horse by trying to convince people to do something before they are ready.

I think I forgot to post these last night!!

Got the dragon head and the Baby Yoda painted!!! They came out pretty good!!!

The dragon may need another coat before I use the clear coat.

Well. Did my absolute best to get as much detail as I could with shading. The horns look awesome!! Painted them black then used grey to highlight the lines.

It was really freaking windy today so I could not put a primer coat on outside. I will do another thin coat to smooth out the paint and then put the clear coat on tomorrow if it’s nice out.

Once it’s dry I will add shading to the underside as well to enhance the lines.

What do you all think???
