do it in chitubox, save it as an STL and load it into photon software

Yeah chitubox is way better, and if you have the newest firmware upgrade it will even read files sliced in chirubox so you don't have to even use photon software

This is a recipe for disaster, you'll end up with a whole bunch of artifacts. Meshmixer -> photon slicer works or just use chitubox to slice as well.

I use 3d Builder for making things sacred (holy) It goes through places where I've had issues getting Chitubox to do so.

I've just used Chitubox, I'm printing my second hollow print ever, so I'm not the best judge yet. The first one came out just fine though

if your mesh is of good quality and water tight chitubox will hollow just fine

I keep my walls above 1.5 mm. Use plenty of supports inside the model. And dont over cure it .

I've mostly given up on hollowing things unless they're very large and solid. I used to hollow everything I could but it lead to far more failures than the resin I saved.

When putting holes for hollowing I use 6mm. It's big enough that I have no trouble with liquid tension flowing in and out. And if 6mm looks really large on a print it's a good Indicator for me that it probably doesn't need to be hollow.

Okay 2 nd test print Mercury astronaut take two!
I didn't support the back of his head so he has no back of his head. And even though these two models are scaled the same and I made the astronaut 6ft tall I still don't think he looks tall enough even though when you see pictures of the x 20 with people next to it you do realize it really is that big.

I have no idea how long my FEP will last, since this is my first resin printer. And considering the long lead times when it comes to getting parts, I figured I'd order some now. Anyone have any thoughts on some good fep that can be ordered on Amazon?

I bought a couple of spare Anycubic ones when I got my printer last July. Screwed up the first print and cleanup as I had no idea what I was doing, so replaced the FEP for my second print. It has lasted me all this time and still going strong. ? Maybe 5L of prints put through it since then.

It will work, but you won't have any protection if the vat leaks.

The top glass is basically a screen protector for 5.5" phone screens. So you could theoretically buy a aftermarket protector to use.

Trying to fix my photon by updating firmware, the only editions I see on their website are 4.2.19 (which I haven't heard great things about) and then some kind of update V502. Anybody know anything about these?

Edit: Photon system 5.5

Current firmware: v4.2.20.3_LCDE /1440x 2560/F2.9 (elegoo)

Different versions of the printer use different ranges of software versions. Let the group know which version of printer (and/or the current firmware on your printer) and someone will likely suggest which version is best for you.

So, I had ordered the ocamo lcd screen off Amazon, but the back is metal, so it would be impossible for any uv light to get through. Am I out of luck or is there a way I can still use this screen?
