For a robotics project I’m working on I need special fasteners. This is a 6-32 set screw with a shaft on the end that acts as a hinge. The diameter of the shaft is .09in and is .125in deep, overall part length is .25in. What would be the best way to print this without putting supports into my threads?

Prints for Giant Killer Robots terrain buildings all done on the Photon. I had to slice some of the larger buildings into 2 due to the height but pretty pleased so far. The candy floss tub is full of IPA.

I will never stop using my filament printer it is the best way to print large plastic objects but for detail I can see that resin for now is your best bet. This is for the scale model of the Curiosity Rover that I am making for another member and this is the drill head at the end of the robotic arm that contains the drill the microscope and the sensors. I doubted that I could get this kind of detail from the model and to ask a slicer to cut up my models is asking a lot but apparently the Photon pulled through.

Found this Open source slicer that has some similarities to what we are trying to do with the slicer part in the Photonsters photon Editor :)

Namely the auto hollowing. The software exports to images but the supports are not usable. Still it can be a good solution while photon editor slicer is not out, to do a quick and dirty hollow of your pre-supported models. the you just need to open the pngs on the Photon Editor and create photon file :)

Cumbersome I know. But i'm sure some daredevil will try it. It has a self contained executable in the releases so no fussing around with command line to get it to run for testing ;)

Really happy with the Anycubic Grey so far. My primary use case is parts prototyping for open source hardware and electronics. This is a prototype motor mount for a robotic coffee machine. Settings were .035, 10, 1.5, 90, 8. The logo print had the same settings except for a .025 layer height. Probably overkill on the initial layers but its working so I'll take it. My post-processing game is still pretty weak so I'm getting some minor resin puddles on the top flat layers.

Hi all

So we have all seen the FDM printers print moving parts, by this I mean robots with moving arms and spheres within spheres and that kind of thing, the question is can the photon print the same? I'm going to try it tonight but I'm just seeing if I'm wasting my time before I start

So, my primary purpose for getting a Photon is to print gaming miniatures (spaceships and big stompy robots). Anyone else do this?

Trying to get a ballpark idea for how much resin is used.

Loving my printer, this is about the 10th figure that I printed, the video is when I print it at 20 Micron layers in the standard anycubic green standard settings the little robot is for my Jupiter to project he was printed at 10 micron layer thickness also in green but I've giving him a base coat to prepare for painting. I’m thinking of buying a printer and want to understand whether there is a resin equivalent to white, strong and flexible from Shapeways. I need a bit of flex as I want to build snap together robot parts and I’m worried that resin will be too brittle.

Thanks!

FTD IB black .05mm 9s layer time
1st time I have cracks in a print, I let it cure outside the whole day, and it is was very sunny for once, lesson learned ;)
