Today, I got resin in my eye.

You are probably a smart person. Creative, engineering oriented...you most definitely wear your gloves when working with your SLA printer..but do you wear safety glasses?
You should.
I don't care how little you are handling your resin. Every time you open that door, you should have glasses on. Period
.
The sheer agonizing pain from one TINY drop of resin knocked me on my ass for over an hour. The burning starts immediately. You have time to think "oh fuck" and then instinct kicks in. This is not shampoo in your eye type pain, folks. This is "I should probably go to the hospital" level pain.
I had to self eye-wash for over 15 minutes to make the pain go away and to ensure that the resin was out.

Don't be me. Be better.

I'm quite glad this post gained so much attention. To those of you perhaps changing your habits now, I'm right there with you! Feeling just fine, no problems other than a bit of dryness now. Big relief.
I knew there would be a few people that would take this opportunity to suggest that I am incompetent, or perhaps not "worthy" of operating an SLA printer, or that it should be "impossible" to screw up badly enough to get resin in your freaking eyeball.
The issue here was certainly incompetence, but not from not knowing better- it was from being too comfortable. When processes become routine (such as, in this case, the scraping of a failed print off of my FEP sheet :) ) people are at risk for getting careless. Why I made this post- to urge you fine folk, you experienced, worthy, competent folk, to work safety into your routine. Always.

Does anybody know of a decent resin (UK available) that, once cured, has the same effect as obsidian or black glass?

Looking to try make some faux obsidian statues. Full black doesn't look too good, need something that's slightly see-through or shiny.

Tape your screens down!

New owners having a rash of vats pulling off screens recently. This needs repeated, gently rock the vat, lift slightly and check before yanking it out.

1. Before putting in the vat, make sure that the bottom of the FEP film is absolutely clean and dry. Resin residue, moisture, etc. will make it stick to the glass.

2. Best to tape it down, if you don't have kapton just use cellophane or any other thin tape. In a pinch, electrician's tape will do to till you get better ones.

Hey fellow creators. I was wondering if you buy a replacement screen from Anycubic on Amazon, it doesn't come with a glass panel right? Is there a sticky film on the screen to glue it to the glass panel or how? A little confused. Thanks in advance!

Monocure rapid clear with a small dash of monocure black to give a smoked glass look.
It sort of disguises the unpleasant yellowing of the clear. Roughly 15:1 ratio clear to black.
85sec bottom / 15sec normal. I wanted to overexpose a little to stiffen the thinner parts.

Got some solidified resin on the lcs somehow ?
I've left an isapopropinol soaked microfiber cloth resting on it for now, can't seem to easily pick it off.

How do you keep prints transparent? I hollow mine to about 1mm most times. When they finish printing they're beautiful and green and glassy. After cleaning in IPA and curing under an LED they get frosted and loose some transparency. What am I doing wrong?
