I've seen so many posts about continually failed parts lately. Until yesterday I was one of them.

I was attempting to change the settings in the g-code to slow the lift speed when I realized the current website firmware release has a typo in the parameter file.
M8015 P1 and M8016 P2
SHOULD BE
M8015 T1 and M8016 T2
(The number after the last letter is a speed setting, yours may be different)

These two settings control the peel and lift speed which is why, if you have updated the firmware with your new printer, it's ripping off the plate at high speed and supports are failing.

HOW TO FIX: search for the GitHub repository within the Facebook group, download firmware 4.2.5 and follow the install instructions.

Also: download the "Updated factory default translated g-code" from the GitHub. It will explain what all the g-code means and you can use it as a direct replacement for the Chinese g-code parameter file in the firmware by replacing it on your firmware USB stick.
To change any setting at any time, all you have to do is open it in any text editor such as note pad, then save and print the gcode file on the photon (you will have to reset your zero every time you do).

SECONDLY: I sanded my built plate and realised it was 1-2mm bowed on the perimeter from the casting process (proof pictures attached). This absolutely does not qualify as "flat" and afterwards I have no parts coming off the build plate.

If after you sand your plate flat (using a piece of sandpaper placed on a sheet of glass) you are still having problems, replace your FEP film and wipe a thin layer of pure PTFE grease (no rust inhibitors like would be in bike chain lube) on the resin side of the film. This will solve all sticking issues during normal exposures and increase overall toleraces by reducing stresses. This will not affect the resin performance as PTFE is highly stable.

LASTLY: Properly tighten your Z axis rail! Search on YouTube for a how to video. Mine shipped much too loose and I wasted time getting less than expected resolution. I now have zero play and no clicking when I wiggle the plate.

I'm shocked that this thing has the good reviews that it does, it's been a nightmare. But then again most of us bought it for the pricetag, post engineering is to be... expected?

Hi folks,

recently all my prints started failing after the first 10-20 layers. The raft prints fine. Just after the supports start the print fails.
I tried a different resin, newly bought resin, i changed the FEP, different slicers (anycubic, chitubox, formware3d), different models and orientations. I even downloaded the testcube from anycubic. Every combo failed. Any ideas?

Also this morning my Z Motor began to make clicking noises like an old hard drive.

Does anyone use a heated knife for support removal? Or just regular clippers?
I remember considering getting one but someone brought up the point of vaporized resin fumes maybe not being okay. Wanted to see if anyone has specific tricks they used for clean support removal?

hi folks - newby here. hopefully someone can point me in the right direction.

My first print and there is nothing on the build plate but i can feel something on the FEP.
i did hear it 'clicking' in the first few layers as it pulled away each time. but i guess the adhesion to the fep was higher than the build plate

any advice welcomed

I just used the resin calibration's 'resin-test-50u.B150.20-200' and it looks like 200 seconds is right for this experimental resin. When I run resin-test-25u.B150.20-200 however it's a blank flat card. My expectation was that it would be more defined since the UV light would not need to be traveling through as much material. Also, the total effective time for a 50um layer is now 400s.
Sorry can't show pics. Any suggestions? I'm going to rerun the test to make sure I didn't select the wrong one.
Thanks!

Hey Guys,
So my fep got fkt and I needed to change it. Because I was curious I took the epax non fep. The installation was exactly the same, everything like I would do with anycubic fep. So now I was running a testcube and It came out fine. I just heard no click from the fep anymore. Not at all! Also the cube was super easy to be removed. I think with a normal fep it would have sticked already on the fep... But I am not sure... I will now continue printing and let's see!

Wish you a nice printing :)

Bit of a random one, I have a 3D model I need printed it is a very large stone set pendant. I don’t need it printed in a castable resin as it is for a sample piece for a client. My 3D printer is down currently and haven’t got the time to fix it before the deadline. Would anyone be interested in quoting me on the job? Thank you.

Hi Guys, so... I've noticed that not everyone is aware of the awesome tools we have acess to for the Original Photon.

Who here has heard anything about Photonsters? (thank you to the awesome people that had all this hard work to get these tools and Photonsters github up and running).

In the pictures you can see one of them, the Photonia PP Range Tester i printed with Anycubic Green Resin (MORE INFO HERE: https://www.facebook.com/groups/AnycubicPhoton/permalink/1565101103634526/ )

You can find all the calibration models and community tools here: https://github.com/Photonsters/anycubic-photon-docs

With the tools in Photonsters you can calibrate your exposure for a specific resin, check .photon files for integrity and unsupported islands (and fix them), use a Open Slicer that will work within Meshmixer with a click of a button and much much more...

Do yourself a favor and check Photonsters and try to absorb every bit of information that its there!!!

You wont regret it!
