Which automatic support looks like it is best? Try not to pick the program you know but rather just look at the supports.
You may pick a few good ones if they are equally as good.
Click on the small image to see it larger.

UPDATE: Problem solved ... it was the cycling of my heating system. For some reason, the ripples were EXACTLY 2mm on that first print. I tried another one at a different temp, and got larger ripples. So, I turned off the heating system and got a perfect print.

Last week, I was printing 120mm tall objects with no issues. Tonight ... I get this. Everything beyond 25mm from the bed looks like it's corrugated. I've seen z wobble, but this is ridiculous. And, the car is tight on the z axis.

What's so frustrating about this is that I was getting perfect tall prints just a few days ago.

And, yes, there's a broken piece to the left of the print - I threw something else on there to see if it would work - and it was too close to the edge of the plate - the outer edge failed due to light fall-off. No big deal.

Some days ago my anycubic Photon has begun to make a bit if noise, like a click, when it moves vertical between layers, it's It is not the noise that occurs when the resin is separated from the base, it seems that the axis when turning to a certain position will rub against something.
Also horizontal lines have begun to appear as seen in the image, printed White anicubic White resin, 0,05 layer 11 sec.
Can you help me identify the source of the noise and eliminate those lines?

Hey folks, does anyone have advice on printing dimensionally correct parts? I'm trying to make a mobile phone mount for my car that's in 3 parts: One that goes on the phone, one that goes on a car windscreen bracket, and one that I can use as a belt clip.

My issue at the moment is that I'm trying to print holes for 10mm by 3mm magnets to hold the phone in place when it's either on the belt or in the car, and they're coming out the wrong size. Initially they seem OK, and are a reasonably snug press-fit which is what I was going for, but over 24-48 hours the parts seem to shrink further, and crack themselves open on the magnets. The part itself (once the interesting bits are excluded) is basically just a 60mm by 22mm by 5mm thick slab of acrylic.

Resin is the Monocure Black, I'm using 5x80s bottom layers, then 13 second mid-layers at 50 um.

I've seen a couple of references to shrinkage at ~3%. Should I just be scaling all my parts at 103% in the slicer to account for that? Would that actually work?

It's kind of important as I've done a full design for a magnetically coupled impeller pump I want to print off to stir my wash-vats, but that design uses bearings so I need those prints to come out bang-on the right size.

Instructions for printing close-tolerance parts:

First step is see where you are at by printing my test-gauge set: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3325364

The most precise resins will allow the GO -0.1 pin to pass through the ring but the NOGO +0.1 should not go through. Any resin that can do that needs no further action. See list of resins already tested here:

https://docs.google.com/…/1yDwszgncTyOxvyJho6y1kxLJquH2GsfL…

If your print will only allow the GO -0.2 or GO -0.3 to pass through, then it is printing over-sized and needs corrective-action. I have worked with the developers to get two programs so far to offer this correction.

Method 1 (easy way): Buy Formware https://www.formware.co and set up a printer profile for that resin and put in the correction based on the gauge reading. So if the gauge would only allow GO -0.3 to pass, then use a value of 3 pixels or -0.15mm / -150 microns.

Method 2 (hard, but free): Go to this site and click on Clone or Download: https://github.com/Photonsters/VoxelsOps

Also download Node and install it: https://nodejs.org/en/download/

Select Download Zip and unzip it somewhere. Open a command-line shell and go to the directory that you unzipped it. Type commands 'npm i' then change directory to app, and do 'npm i' again.

Back out of apps, and go into directory helpers. There is a command called erode.js

Run this command with 'node erode -s yourphotonfile.photon -x 1 -y 1 -z 0 -d path-to-emty-dir-to-put-slices-into

Now go here and install PhotonFileEditor by following the instructions on that page:

https://github.com/Photonsters/PhotonFileEditor

Now load your original .photon file into the editor. Then import the slices that VoxelsOps generated. Then save out the photon file again.

That is all.

Future plans: Voxels Ops may get easier to use by writing photon files directly, so that PhotonFileEditor is not needed. And, PhotonOpenSlicer may end up having this horizontal size compensation, in which case it would just be a matter of saving your STl to a folder that PhotonOpenSlicer monitors and it would just automatically generate the photon file for you. Thirdly, ChiTuBox said they would add this feature to a future paid version.

For those that have set up a charcoal filtration system for the photon or shuffle such as the one I posted about a year ago here is a hack to replace the charcoal cheaply. After 1 year the charcoal was not filtering the resin odor anymore. This took 20 minutes.

Remove the 3 screws at the top of the canister.
Carefully remove the metal top (the metal is sharp)
Clip around the rivets holding the mesh screen to the plastic ring.
Remove the black plastic ring.
Unfurl the nylon
Dump the old charcoal out being careful not to dislodge the inner metal mesh ring.
Fill with new charcoal.
Replace the nylon over the top.
Replace the plastic ring
Replace the metal cover and the 3 screws.
Done

Replacement charcoal can be found here. It takes 5 pounds of charcoal to refill the canister. https://www.amazon.com/…/…/ref=oh_aui_search_bia_detailpage…

ChiTubox V1.2.0 - You can't hear it in this video but I am clicking away on the overhangs with no supports being made... is there a trick for this I am missing. Randomly (it seems) it will place one but usually, on the smaller overhangs, it does nothing.
