I modded my printer to give it some junk in the trunk. Very worthwhile upgrade, as the smell is 99% gone.

Hi everyone, has anyone else had the issue that if using Chitubox to slice the Photon S will just not print anything and then the 2k screen exposure will stop working properly? It looks like this and the only thing that got the test back to normal was re-installing the latest firmware. However, the Photon does not even seem to heat up at all, no odor I expect from the resin in use, and I do not hear the bottom layers creating any suction. After a 40-50 layers I have stopped a few prints to find there is nothing on the build plate or the FEP. They just are not printing at all. I have mostly been using the Elgoo ABS-Like Grey and the settings are verbatim from the Google Doc. Since having to re-install the firmware nothing will print. The ribbon cable for the 2k is intact. Room temp is in the 20s C (68-70 F).

The Photon Workshop just crashes when I try to slice something. And sometimes when just dropping an STL in it. I did not have that problem before I started to use Chitubox, is there a driver conflict or something? Two weeks in and this purchase was pretty much instant regret. Any recommendations for firmware you all are using successfully? I've tried the default 2 dot something, 4.18 and 5.0.2. After about two dozen attempted prints there's only been three I would call acceptable and those were early and poorly supported as I have been learning. The FEPs have been tuned to ~350hz w/ Spectrum from the apple app store. I have to wait for more of those to come in now. Gone through six FEPs now I think between one that got melted in the corner, the one it came with was creased and then not finding a way to actually tune the things until a day or two ago. Interestingly, the only decent prints i got were before I had a way to measure the frequency. I don't like just returning things but I doubt there is problem forum I have not read on the Photon S at this point. I have had a few ok prints so I am not looking to blame this on any of the STLs themselves, this feels like an issue with the device. and yes, before it said the build plate is level and zero'd.

Any ideas? Please and thank you.

Example of what happens after I use Chitubox(not me in the vid):

And the issues continue. Can someone explain to me why this is happening? The bed is level, evident by the base layer (which is perfectly flat and the same height across the bed), yet certain prints just won't stick. I've tried thicker support material, but as you can see, that hasn't made a change and pieces still arent sticking. I really need help here, because I'm honestly starting to get really frustrated with these printers. I've been doing prints of these mirrors for months and have never had this issue before. Now all of a sudden I can't print them out. Could this be a temperature problem? Please offer your solutions below, thankyou..

Hey there!

I'm using my Photon and ChituBox since month and never had any big issues (minor only), but this is new:

I'm loading STLs into Chitubox, as usual, arrange them, add supports and go to slice them... but now, when I want to save or browse through the slices, Chitubox just closes/crashes...

Happens with old and new version...

Any ideas? Tips tricks? My google skills didn't find anything.

Thing is, I also already printed these files a few days ago. I just scaled them a little bit up and put on new supports in 7mm height instead of 5mm... Lowering the model to 5 mm again also ends in the same issue!

Hope anybody can help :)

Another print for my friend.
Used anycubic clear resin,
0.05 layer height,
exposure 8sec,
bottom 60sec for 8 layers.
With grey primer.
And thank you guys for the scale stl tip to check the size.. ?

Hi guys,
I've read and tried almost everything.
I own 2 photons and 1 photon S.
I have used ac green, black and siraya blu many times and had very small issues once in a while.

Now, switching to rapid abs like translucent elegoo, it looks like my supports are doing fine the first 4 mm, then they start to thin up and they then disappear. The weird thing is that this happens only with some supports, mostly on the corners.

I have used timings up to 14 secs and 6,5 light off secs, down to 11 and 1.5 LO, but i still get these issues.

Last night i tried to print a small piece with a flat side on top of few heavy supports, starting at 5mms from the plate. After 80 some layers, the supports looked like they had a pointy tip and the photon never printed anything else after that.

What bugs me is that the lcd test worls fine, the rectangle shows fairly well and clear.

Temperature of the room is around 20degrees as i have two chirons working full time next to the photons and they are freaking heaters.

Here you see photos of the pigmented (with cmyk monocure 3d pigments) elegoo resin on both the photon and the photon s.

Also, i have been having these problems since switching to 1.6.1 chitubox software.

Any suggestions is very welcome as I am running out of ideas.
Thank you all for your time.

Overengineering is strong with this one.

I'm running my printer in the living room, and fumes were never an option.

Mostly Thingiverse, a couple of custom parts. I'll give it a try and post those if they do work

UPD:
It's still smells close to the printer, mostly from below, where fan is located.
With window opened, it's pretty good.

Pushed the z limit overnight.
Surprised it came off mostly without issue.
Am a bit weirded out by that white stuff around the bottom of each piece though. Uncured resin?
