Hi! It's my first time to buy any 3D printer. My Anycubic Photon S will arrive in 10 days accdg to Aliexpress. Any tips on setting it up? I plan to print, mostly on printing art toys.

1. Best software to use? Minimum spec for the laptop? I have a 2011 Macbook Air and an Acer Swift 1.
2. Any DOs and DON'Ts
3. Things to do to prepare my house for the printer? I heard the smell is really bad, and I have 2 kids at home (3yo and 1yo).
4. What's the basic set up to get good quality prints so I can directly paint? Should I still use a primer and do some wet sanding?

Thanks!

Hi guys! what are you using your Anycubic Photon for? I'm starting to learn 3d modeling softwares to make some jewellery :D here's some rings I've designed, thought it would be cool to share! Printed firstly with my photon and then commisioned in silver to Shapeways. Legality question! If I advertise "Custom printed minis - send me an .STL file and I'll print and paint it for you!" and someone sends me a file of a copyright-covered figure, like a Mind Flayer or Deadpool, am I legally liable?

I'm planning to start up a little Etsy store selling minis and terrain, painted or unpainted, to the D&D / tabletop crowd. I know that a lot of proprietary things like Mind Flayers and Aboleths are under copyright, and other things like "An orc with a smashy thing" are definitely fair game, because they're not unique enough.

I'm planning to subscribe on Patreon to a guy who will give you access to a batch of legal-to-use "Orc-with-smasher"-category open gaming license .stl files. I'll have lists of those available under my store for people to pick from. Not worried about that...

But I haven't been able to find a clear answer on whether it's illegal to print a copy-written likeness for someone and sell the printing service. Am I in the clear? I'm not selling the copywritten material--they pirated that themselves when they obtained the .stl--and I'm not using the material in advertising.

I’m new to 3D printing an been testing my machine (an S ) this wekend an I have a ton of questions

First I printed out the cube
It came out in one pice but there was some skin hanging of it and the gap in the 5 looked a bit fused

Went over to printing some models with 8sec exposure but I lost so much detail and the supports where fused in and to a lot of models and didn’t break of without making big holes in the models

I started playing with exposure an only when I hit 2.2 sec on 0.02 mm did I get the expected detail

This is very lo as far as I can tell from all the documents online

I also have a thin layer of cured resin all over my fep film? Is this normal?

Once I had te detail I liked I tried to reduce the supports I found that the original software created an in asked for support in my pre support .stl file when slicing it.

I’m sorry for my ramblings but am I doing something wrong, is my machine faulty or do I just need to keep tweaking?

If anyone ever supports files in Chitubox (or another slicer) and then saves them as .stl files to reload and work on, or print, later, from Chitubox, and is getting failures, this video just may solve your problems!

I hear a lot about cooler temps and some resins needing a warmer environment.

This can be challenging in the colder months.

I bought this heater for one room that has my printers I use mostly for ABS to help maintain a warmer temp.

The room is 13x13 and nothing great for insulation! This heater is a beast and heats this room to 75f without effort. I was really surprised when I got it going.

Just posting in case anyone is interested in a reasonably priced whole room solution.
