Chitubox & Photon S

What’s your workflow with chitubox and a photon S? I have the latest firmware and my photon S crashes when I put photon files on the USB drive. It seems to work with photons files but those can’t be used in the photon files validator which is very handy. Any recommendations ? I do not use the photon s profile in chitubox since it does not have anti aliasing. Is using the default profile an option?

does anyone have thoughts on putting these into the inside faces of the printer for an attempt at temperature control in a cold garage? usb 5v heating pads, the sort used in gloves .

so update on my previous post. I am still having problems I tired a new usb stick so im not sure if that is the issue, i am going to try another one but just seeing what you guys think the first photo is the one that printed last night and the sticky note is what it should be. there is a giant piece of resin that shouldnt be there

I've got a strange one happening on my Photon S with 5.0.2 fw. This print is a 0.03mm layer print with 4s normal exposure, but the printer seems to hang during exposure. (actually exposes 30s with the lamp on- I can see the light, and the touchscreen becomes unresponsive)
Despite that, the print appears to be going fine as far as I can tell by pausing and looking at it, but maybe it's overexposed.

What do you think? Firmware? USB drive? Its a month-old 8gb SanDisk which has been doing well so far, so I think it's firmware.

Firmware update:

Updated my Photon S and now I can use Chitubox for my slicing. Not just for supports. It was super easy to update. Just went to the anycubic website, downloaded the latest firmware. Copied the two docs on an empty USB. Put that USB into my Photon S and selected to “print/play each one and we are good to go.

Super easy and I did do a search but didn’t find anything on the Photon S. Hope this will help someone else.

Ok so now that I got the plate levels and Baby Yoda printing in the new black resin, I am going through some of my STLs that I had previously done in Chitubox

Chitubox is great but when I do auto supports it puts WAY too many!!

The Anycubic software that comes on the USB stick seems to be a lot more intuitive about support placement. It puts a good amount, but it gives you some room to put more if you need to.

After I did auto supports on this swole Pikachu, I added a few more to create the cross pieces for added support.

I added the ones for the tail, legs and the ears myself.

Let me know what you guys think!!!

Hi All

MAde the mistake :) of upgrading my Fauxton to firmware 5.0.2, it can now see .photon files but locks up 98% of the time, so I can never start a print, USB with only .pws files seem to work OK. :(

I've email Anycubic , still waiting for a response

Does anyone know if I can flash it back to an older firmware?

Any ideas on troubleshooting a “failed to open file” error. Happens across multiple usb drives that we’re working. Reseated cable now change. Plugged drive directly onto board, no change. UI shows the files but with no preview image and they can’t be opened.

Ok my photon slicer (standard that comes with printer) keeps crashing when I'm trying to slice a print, tried swapping USB sticks just incase also reset laptop and run virus checks, anyone got any ideas?

Hello, we purchased a Photon printer this month, we are brand new to 3D printing and feel like we are in over our heads! We’ve got the printer all set up, but the icons from the usb on the screen didn’t show the test file. We downloaded it from the website but the error message on the screen says “unknown file format”. What are we missing?
