Bunch of skulls printed at (approx) 1:6 scale as a commission. No failed prints (although the first attempt wasn’t right because of user error).

Not bad as the machine had been dormant for a couple of months and I just dismantled and rebuilt the build plate and vat to give it a thorough clean. Ameralabs resin.

I'm updating the 'home' for my resin printers- To make some room.

I have to admit, I've become a bit of an addict. I just love playing with them- especially the experimental side of things. So, I've decided to start a little project.

I want to compare some different printers. I already have a Zortrax Inkspire, an Anycubic Photon, and a Kelant S400.

I'm adding a few more. I have a Phrozen Shuffle XL on the way, and probably an Elgoo Mars. I think I'm going to toss a Sparkmaker in to the mix, and possibly also an EPAX- Perhaps a few others. I'm not sure if I am going to get a Photon S quite yet- Seems they are still working on it a bit?

My main reason for doing this is that there seem to be a LOT of different machines out there, many of which seem to offer some great features. The problem with most of them, however, is that the manufacturer is the only source of information about them. Like most, I've gone the safe route until now, buying the machines that have a larger following, but now I feel like living on the edge.

I'd also like to test some different resins as well, across all the machines.

Of course, I'll be documenting the testing on Facebook, YouTube, and probably some sort of blog.

So- What kind of testing are people interested in seeing? Are there any additional machines that should be in the mix?

Megalodon shark tooth. Tried to make it look like a real fossil tooth! Man I love this little machine!

Pointing out the difficulty of translating engineering drawings and photos into reality! On the Apollo telescope truss there where braces that rested against the truss mounted on the lab. The telescope was quite heavy and the power and thrust of the entire launch to orbit which included paint mixer shaking and forcing the entire craft threw Mac q including staging 3 times!! That's a lot to ask a few inches on contact to do! Along with the 2 swivel points the engineers must have had a few sleepless nights on that project.....but it worked!.

I downloaded chitubox work great but now when I add the file to the memory stick it look great and open great on the pc but I plug it into the machine and is just a fuzz pic and says file error
Also getting so weird issues with photon slicer add or subtracting stuff that the pc shows. I was thinking maybe I have to many file on the stick? Should I only keep the file I’m printing on it ??

hey all. so i've been on the fence about either getting the photon or the epax. im a zbrush sculptor with very little printing experience. i'm wondering if anyone would be willing to print a "sketch" i created to see what these machines can do. so the sculpt is pictured below. the dropbox link to the stl is:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/he9ucnmqiv…/cowboy%2060mm%20D.stl…

so, like i said, i'm a complete noob and i don't know all the ins and outs of printing yet, but i can say that the model is:

-60mm tall (unless i did the measurements wrong)
-hollowed out (but i can't vouch for the exact thickness, should be at least 2mm thick i think)
-has a drain hole under base

please feel free to print smaller if you want to save resin, but please don't go smaller then 40mm, i'm like to see how the machine renders my sculpted details.

thanks in advance =)

Does anyone here use Simplify3d with their printer? I have read it is possible to remove the extrusion commands and replace with the on/off for the lcd.

***Picture for attention as well as will be my first full model when I get the machine dialed in as I just received the files. ?

Has anyone calibrated their machine to find the %error referenced from CAD? It'd be convenient to know if someone has found the correction factor for each axis to hit precise dimensions as I'm seeing skewing (a 1mmx1mmx1mm cubed might need to be scaled by 105%x100%x107%, etc. to print as an actual cube).

I know that there will always be some UV leakage that thickens walls, I'm talking about round parts being round not oval, and spheres being equal diameter all around.

I know, I know, I COULD do it myself, But maybe one of you can give me a starting point to save resources.

Robert Silvers and Sen Kun : Original Photon is on an Amazon Lightning Deal right now. Having experience with both machines, do you feel the upgrades implemented on the EPAX X1 are worth the $135.34 price difference between the Original Photon and the EPAX X1?

Trying Ikea Lillangen as enclosure, the furniture moves a liiiittle bit (could be fixed to the wall) but I hope it doesn't has any effect on the prints. Also Ill have to make sure the washing machine is not running together with the printer, although it might be useful to shake the resins... ?
