Couple of prints from everyone's favorite.

Question for this group: what's the best/easiest tool if I wanted to add "slotta" style tabs to the feet of these minis? I use ChituBox for everyday slicing, and I've downloaded meshmixer but ran away screaming the first time I opened it. Just buck up and figure it out, or is there something else that's easier for this limited use case?

I'm thinking about picking up a larger printer. Seriously considering a Milkshake 3D printer from Orbilabs. Has anyone got any experience with this or tried it? I had one of my models printed on it a while back and the quality looks beautiful, but was printed at 50 micron layers so had quite visible stepping, but otherwise and almost flawless print. Designed a hanging lamp cord clamp on the iPad Pro in Shapr3D. Didn’t account for shrinkage, and completely fudged the cord’s profile. Printed in AnyCubic Green because I didn’t feel like swapping out the vat for the more appropriate Elegoo Grey ABS.

The t-bar grip is too tight for the material properties and the nut also had to be forced in. And I completely disregarded my cord measurements and designed the pass-through from pure imagination.

I’m probably just going to use hot glue to fill in the pass-through and trap the cord more securely. It’ll probably work fine and I took away some lessons for the next one. But this is my first foray into any kind of practical design like this and I’m happy.

James Moon very gently pointed out that I'm an idiot (and I am genuinely thankful! LOL), and the support bases in PrusaSlicer are indeed able to be generated with an overhang for your scraper to slide under. I was absolutely doing something wrong. I deleted the message and associated thread I had posted about it, so sorry for cutting short the unrelated conversations we had going in the comments.

Thanks for setting me straight on that, James - if I don't learn at least one thing every day, then it's a wasted day. :)

Today's tip: When taking a screen shot of one of your resin profiles in Chitu, make sure to change it *back* to the profile for the material that's *actually* in your vat before slicing and starting a new print job. ? ? ?

Absent-minded me has done it with my filament machines too, like trying to extrude PETG at PLA temps. That's also somewhat... prone to failure. :)

Got my Fat Dragon Games Cube-O-Snoot done. Printed on the Photon in Elegoo ABS like translucent resin. Then 3 coats of Pledge Revive to make it more transparent. Painted and then washed in Blue wash. And finally aIrbrushed sprayed gloss clear-coat. Looks a lot nicer than the clear plastic box I was using.
