So I have noticed, some of my parts have warped slightly
Is this exposure time or support settings?

Hoping you fine folks can help me with some tuning.

I've had a Photon for years now (one of the original ones, with the blue windows) and it's been printing great the while time. Recently, though, I picked up a Photon S to play around with as well.

Thing is, I just can't get the S to print as well. Most of what I print is miniatures (thanks HeroForge!) and have gotten decent at rigging supports for them. On the original Photon, the supports (medium-ish) snap off cleanly every time with very minimal fuss and very little surface scarring. Quick, easy, very little detailed-snipping required.

On the S, though, the same supports are rigidly stuck to the model and need to be cut free. They also often leave deep pits and scars. If I drop down to light supports, they seem to work a _bit_ better, but I get a lot of "globbing" (bits of the model, on the side near the plate, are just a blobby, indistinct mess.)

Here's what I've tried so far:
- Used a RERF to fine-tune the resin. I can barely see any difference between any of the tiles whatsoever.
- Turned down the curing time to 12s (down from 15s on the original)
- Used original .photon files AND the new .photons files.

What I'm using:
- The latest version of ChiTuBox
- Monocure Rapid Blue

I've also noticed that the prints that come off the S look different. They're much shinier, even after cleaning and drying, than the originals. Though, I don't know if this is good or bad.

I know the S has a different light on it and is expected to cure a bit faster. But what other changes should I be trying? If you've gone from an Original to an S, what settings did you find you needed to tweak?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I keep trying prints from both machines at the same time, but end up keeping the one from the original every single time. :(

Success! Wow, that was SO much easier to set up out of the box than my FDM printers. Was going within 5 minutes. So excited to start making things now!! ?

I’ve just had my Photon about a week now and having some troubles. Some of the troubles include the print head suddenly not moving at all and not responding to any of the Z movement buttons. A power cycle gets it working again. On one print the head went down into the vat then never came back up again. I was also getting cured resin on different parts of the fep. At first we thought (my friend who is also in this group has been helping me extensively) maybe it was a bad batch of resin. I tried the other bottle (I had ordered 2) and got a very nice print and no globs on the fep. I then tried the deathtrooper model and got a strange result. Half printed and a flat blob on the fep. Check put the pics. Any help very much appreciated.

I am using Siraya Tech Fast Resin. The deathtrooper print was at 10 sec exposure time.

Has anyone had success working with that specific resin or had issues with the print head not moving or responding to button presses?

Hi guys.. I've recently moved my Photon inside with extraction, but I've been having problems with items falling off of supports.

Are my support settings wildly off? Would anyone recommend any changes... Or is this an exposure length problem?

Thank you in advance... ?

So my first large scale print, had one on each end fail at different points during the print. The remaining 8 are fine except one on far right of photo is shifted at two different areas. So i think maybe need more curing time per layer, but the shifted one i dunno what happened. Suggestions?

Hey folks, so havin some issues here. I’ve releveled my bed using the paper method 3-4 times and every time the print either falls off or doesn’t print at all. Hoping for some insight, maybe a higher bottom exposure time? On this one I was trying to print two supportless minis. One fell off and the other never made it off the fep. Settings in the photos

So this has been bugging me for a few months now, and I finally had to make a recording to see what I'm doing wrong. I've edited it to time-lapse and keep it short & sweet.

I print with a Photon and have always gone through the troubles of building my own supports in Chitubox, but every few days I see people comment on how PrusaSlicer is easy-mode for supports. I just don't see it.

In the recording, I walk through the steps of adding auto-supports in Prusa, slicing in Chitu and then running the whole thing through the Photon File Validator. Look at the number of errors, after cleanup! I realize that some additional supports by hand is to be expected, but that's more than a few.

This happens for me with every detailed file, in every orientation, every time. What am I missing? Are my settings off? Am I missing a step? Or are people just not running the file validator after slicing? Any help would be appreciated.

Just ran the resin exposure test using WanHao gray and from what I can tell column 8-9 seems to be the best choice for printing at 50 microns. Is this correct? Does this mean I have to use 16-18 seconds exposure? Seems a bit high.

EDIT: I restarted the printer, and now it exposes again... didnt know know it was running windows ;)

Suddenly the printer stopped putting anything or either the plate or the FEB. Printed a print. Did a level, and now it just goes up and down, without curing any resin it seems. Ive just done the exposure test / detection. The three modes just lights up the whole display.

Any ideas?

Shouldn't it at least then cure the dang thing on the FEP?
