I'm looking at getting a resin printer after using FDM for years. My question is how does temperature affect resin prints? For example if I want to print something that is for use inside a car will the cured print withstand the temperature. For FDM I would use PET-G for this type of purpose as PLA will turn to a melted mess so I was wondering if there is a certain type of resin that I would need, or are they more stable?

Thanks!

Going mad! I changed my broken Photon LCD and I get the 'negative' image of what the printing layer. Like support bases are dark and everywhere else is bright. I got 3 LCD of the compatible Elegoo Mars and thought it maybe not fully compatible. So got the expensive Anycubic LCD and it's the same :(
What am I missing here people?

Interesting bit of info I heard in here. Manufacturer recommends exposing FEP to air after prints as it extends the life of the FEP.

Tried printing this go no-go calibration test. And so far the middle one at go 0.1 is the closest fit. Any idea how should I interpret this, resin is Elegoo abs gray, printed at 50 micron at 6 secs exposure

嘗試列印這個go no-go校准測試. 到目前為止, 在go 0.1的中間是最接近的. 任何想法我該如何解釋這個, 樹脂是elegoo abs灰色, 在6秒曝光時50 micron列印

So I had my Photon delivered last week (it is an original, not a Fauxton), and after a single failed print I did the exposure test, adjusted settings, then printed the test building. That came out great, but there appeared to be a bit of resin on the top front rim of the vat. I thought that was odd, but let it go because I am brand new at this.

Yesterday I ran my first real mini print and about halfway through I notices what looked like splashes on the side glass of the photon. I let the print finish (it came out fine) and then didn’t get to cleaning the vat till late last night.

The vat was sort of stuck to the machine by resin and took some effort to get out. Fortunately the fep wasn’t damaged, but I am really glad I got the kapton tape in place!

I filtered the resin and there were a few bits of loose material but nothing that seemed to account for the large splashes. Any idea how the photon could make splashes like that mid-print?

The pictures show the splashes on the sides as well as the ring of resin around the kapton tape. Any ideas what could be causing it? I think I am going to rig up a camera to record the whole build process and see if I get any info from that.

Är det någon som vill komma igång med ett komplett startkit så har jag en annons ute på blocket nu, AP printer, ultraljudsbad, uv-lampa, fläkt etc. Det går bra att kontakta mig vid frågor.

Sorry for the swedish introducton. For different resons I sadly dont have the time to print anymore, and my Photon is just collecting dust atm. I have an ad out for it now and thought I spread the word in this awsome group.
If this isn´t ok by any means Ill ofc remove the text.

Tried the PowerCast Burn castable resin from Powerresins. I like that it doesn’t need UV post curing. In fact, the tech support person said that it is not recommended to expose the print to UV. Just a rinse with 95% ethanol (the tech support lady also said no IPA to rinse either).

I’m happy with the detail at 35 microns. I didn’t think the mill grain in this model would show but it did (the ring is size 6.5)! Took a little over 4 hr to print. I found out from the first prototype that I need to change the orientation and position of the supports, as a few of them kind of messed up with some elements of the design.

I prototype mostly with Anycubic UV ECO resin but I’ve been itching to try this castable resin from Powerresins. It’s a bit expensive but if I can get this level of detail, then is worth the investment.

I'm curious if anyone who has used their photon to make prototype PCB's has found or made any sort of alignment jig to aid in the process and reduce waste PCB's...

Mostly I'm interested because I'm thinking in the next few weeks I'm gonna have to make something (I don't feel like waiting for my uni to have them made because I'm impatient) and would love to see what has worked for other people and what hasn't worked.
TIA!

Has anyone had issues before with Elegoo Gray resin?

I have for the most part stuck with the transparent green resins in the past, I've used Anycubic, Elegoo, and Monoprice with no issues. I decided to pick up a bottle of gray this week and it has been a fucking mess.

I tried printing with the settings on the bottle with no luck but I know those can't be fully relied on. So I did an exposure test and my best result was around 18 seconds which is more than double what the bottle said. So the same 5-hour print I did with Elegoo green last week was 10 hours with gray.

The worst part is the leftover residue it is leaving on everything. I don't know how clearly you can see in these pictures but my tub was clear on Friday and my spatula was solid black, and this picture of my plate was after dunking and scraping it with a new bottle of IPA. On top of that, everything this shit touches is extremely sticky even after multiple IPA baths and hot water rinses. I even tried a soapy water rinse and it is still sticky. The biggest thing was that I got a single drop of IPA bath on one of our tables, it is stained and I have tried everything short of sanding it to get it out with no luck.

On the plus side, my print came out fine, but it doesn't seem to be worth the hassle. I am returning what I bought and getting green again, but did I just get a bad batch or something or is this a known problem with Elegoo Gray? Has anyone has a similar experience?

More leveling fun! I've done 3 of the exposure prints. None have worked, but it's getting closer. I discovered that even though I thought the build leveling screw was tight, with a bit of pressure I could move the thing with my hand (once I took it off). I'm hoping that was the issue this last time. The pictures of the level show that the printer is pretty well level. I mean, I don't know how much closer it should be than that. Now it's off to level the build plate... then probably relevel the entire damned printer.
