Hello there. My photon has been working fine then it started to print and just stopped and went back to the home screen after 3 layers. Is it a firmware issue? I’ve had it for almost a year and have not updated or done anything to the machine. Thank you.

Hey all, I havent messed with my photon in a while and I just downloaded the firmware update 5.0.2, but there is no LCD file with it. Do I just take the LCD from the old (4.2.19) zip and put it with the new bins?

The update instructions are really lacking.

Hello I am a quiet follower of this group this is my first post. I have learned many useful things so thank you all. I bought my photon early 2019 but only started using it last Christmas. Thanks to all the useful advices I learned mostly in this group, my experience with anycubic photon is very positive.

I read about anti-alias feature that required firmware update. May l ask does this upgrade make much differences in term of print quality. And could those who have done it tell me how to upgrade my printer to enable anti-alias function.

With Anycubic being on holiday till the 1st I'm hoping the community here might have some suggestions. I've been running 4.2.17 for a while now and recently started to experience frame shearing on the right side of the printer thats been getting progressively worse and thicker. I have attempted to upgrade to 4.2.18 (and 4.2.19 even though I've heard it has issues). However when attempting to upgrade and then run the UV check the entire screen just flickers and flashes making it impossible for me to print anything while running those two firmwares.

Has anyone run into this issue and found a way to get around it? I have just been using the left side of my printer at 4.2.17 but have some designs lined up that will require the entire print bed to be used and I don't want to deal with the frame shearing.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I keep getting partially cured resin in parts of the vat where I'm not printing models. The models come out fine but I'm having to scrape my FEP clean and drain the vat every time.

I've seen people say this is a common issue with AnyCubic Green that they haven't had with opaque resins and others say that can't be the issue.

I know frame sheering is a thing and that a firmware update can fix it but am currently on the 4.6.18 firmware.

I've seen people suggest flashing the EPAX firmware to resolve this; is that... just a thing you can do by loading the EPAX firmware like I did the other firmware? Pretty sure I have an OG photon (could print .photon files out of the box).

Are there any other things that can cause this partially cured resin nightmare?

Seriously....what is happening!?

I’ve been running my Photon for a year now and within the last few months have started to, at first, get sludge at the bottom of the vat after printing, with some sludge layers in between the print (but not affecting the print). So I updated the firmware as people suggested.

NOW I’m getting hardened layers after prints and my models are starting to suffer. You can see the sheering in the supports on the 3rd image. I thought it looked like there might be a leak in the film, but when I removed the tray, it was fine.

Is this the sign of a dying UV screen?

Hello everybody,

I need a dump from stm32 anycubic photon (first version not model S)

I decided to upgrade my photon to the latest firmware, but during the LCD update, the printer rebooted and began to squeak wildly, I hurried and turned off the printer power too early, as a result, the printer did not start :( Attempts to reflash this properly through usb were unsuccessful.

I was advised to connect via SWDIO to STM32 and reflash it through the PС. I have a friend, who helped me with this. We are connected - STM32 is really live, recording on STM32 is successful, however I only have a dump from the Photon S model, but there is no dump from the very first model. If we understand correctly, we need an original or reflashed dump from the original model. There is probably some kind of basic firmware that complements itself when starting from a flash, so just writing the firmware from the original site does not lead to a result.

Please, if anyone has the opportunity to share the original dump from the first photon model - I will be very grateful!

hi all, i got a new Fauxton and mostly been happy with results but i have had some holes in a couple bigger models. they we in the same position of the build plate. i haven't updated the firmware and have been using the shipped memory stick. otherwise everything is coming out great.

Any thoughts as to the cause?

Hi!
So I am a proud owner of a Photon (luckily, the original, not a fauxton), bought last week with firmware 4.2.17

A couple of days ago, I got hit by the random freeze/reset/restart failure. After the first layer, the photon crashes and reboots, leaving me with the cured first layer of resin and having to clean up.

I can usually resolve the issue by turning off the printer, unplugging the usb stick, unplugging power for a couple of minutes. Replug power cord, turn on, and replug usb stick. If I want to start another print back2back, I will receive the first layer-freeze-restart error.

I have so far: checked the usb cable connections (inside back panel), which looked fine.

Through research, this seems to be an issue with some ICBuffer? Will a factory reset (via factory-default.gcode) help me with my issue? Should I upgrade to FW 4.2.18 first or after the reset?

Do I have to relevel (and set new z=0) after flashing FW or resetting to factory-default?

I have also read that the EEPROM may be corrupted through unstable power supply? How can I check if my power brick is faulty?

I have also replaced the anycubic usb stick with a new branded one and will stick to that one with all my ongoing operations.
