Morning all,

So, the Photon arrived, got it levelled and set up as per all the info available on here and github.

Test print done with the green resin which came with it and all seems well.

From digging around on here I've seen some really useful information on precision fit parts, resin settings, tolerances etc via the GO-NOGO which is all super handy.

However....I can find very little info on Voxel and how to actually use it to fix XY issues, I have it all installed etc.

Can anybody help a noob out on how to go about using the software? just simply things like getting down to the .1mm tolerance by using the software.

I already have Z-suite, but I've not set it up with the Photon yet, additionally I have Prusa slicer too, but looking on Github about getting that set up, blew my tiny mind!

PrusaSlicer, I noticed a bunch of folks mentioning using it for supports and first slice. Why?

Also, can we get whoever maintains the github to add that to the list of slicers? Config set up would be helpful.

Hi guys!

Glad to be on here!

I'm new to the Anycubic Photon still, having it for only one week. I've been having problems with the black resin on the bases for my minis.

I've done the exposure test from GitHub and it told me 18 seconds exposure. I also set the bottom exposure to 80, off time to 4, layer thickness to 0.05, and the bottom layers to 8. The rest of the print seems to be fine. I've only got issues with the bases, whatever orientation I have them in (0, 45, 90, 180 degrees) I've definitely got it leveled, as it was perfect with the green resin before and the paper test was spot on. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

All the best,
Luke

Hi guys, desperated noob is writing.

It is 3rd time I'll try to print these 3 cursed dwarves. Finaly at least one is done, but the rest did the same - in some moment it just fall to the vat from the supports. First time all 3 were failed, so I changed position/supports. But it happen again.

Leveling/resin exposure time are properly set.

I went through the guideline on github, watched few videos, but still did not get the principle of correct supports placement.
I'd really appreciate the advice on what I did wrong. As I feel there is fundamental mistake hidden)

Thanks!

Searched on the Anycubic site for the firmware for AA, looking for .18 version, heard it has the least amount of bugs? Anyways I cant find it on their site at all. I went to github, and the link I downloaded the .18 version only had 2 files in it; not the 3 files version .17 used.

Any one have any thoughts?

Hi guys,

Finally I got my Photon yesterday. Before I digged through the different manuals/tips, so everything supposed to be fine..

Resin - base translucent green.

Settings - as per Github table for this resin, screenshot in first comment.

First Z calibration - classic 'paper' method from Photon.

My first issue: I've tryed to make my first print - matrix calibration file - it was sticked not to the plate, but to the FEP. OK, I recalibrated Z axis, removed cured base from the film, but issue appeared again.

Second Z calibration - alternative 'paper' method - after several times of classic method, I tried for 5-6 times with this option ( forllowing the video of proper calibration with paper). On the 6th time matrix calibration print finally sticked to the plate and I was just happy, so decided to print regular model (orc miniature with the base). I left it for print (3,5 hours) and when came back - again I found that the base is sticked to the FEP and process did not proceed further.

Every time I tried to remove cured base parts from the FEP with plastic scraper.

My last hope was to use Flinth's method and when I drained vat to start, I found that there are a lot of small scratches on the FEP which I potentially did, removing sticked cured base from the film.

On the pictures I tried to capture all the scratches, It is clearly visible shadows that scratches cause on the surface.

So, before doing more stupid things (on my opinion - to replace new FEP at once is not the smartest thing to do), could you please advise - should I have to replace FEP, or these cratches are not dramatic and doesnt influence on the sticking problem?

Thank you!

PLEASE HELP

Ok so i dont think its the file size anymore, my machine did print last night once i made the file smaller, but it was false hope i tried the same print again and i cannot get the machine past the first Layer without it shitting off and turning back on. I am beyond frustrated now with this printer. So far i have...

unplugged it and left it for a bit... worked once or twice

unplugged it with the power on (should drain all the memory) worked once or twice

did the factory reset, worked once for the next print

tried simple file names, 4 different usbs all freshly formatted

plugged directly into the wall on its own power outlet in case of not enough power.

flashed updated firmware...

Went through the phontonsters github troublshooting

I think thats all the trouble shooting but i cant get her to go this morning

when it prints it looks great.

So after a couple failed prints I tried the anycubic photon lattice cube print....and it failed. I'm getting to my wits end here. Not sure what's wrong. I've leveled it twice now so it can only move the paper going out but you can't push it in. I've played with settings from the GitHub so not sure where to go...

Updated FW to the Epax 4.2.18 and noticed a crazy layer shift.
Ran the test and found this.
First thought is loose cable, check cables good and retest, it stopped jittering.
Ran another file that was proven good before (cal test) and layer shift again. Run the test and the screen is jittering again. ?
Installed Photons 4.2.18 from the github and prints have been fine since.
Install was the same way, cleaned USB first.
System is photon 5.5
