Righto, after being busy printing with my FDM printer to get ready to start printing with my Photon S, I am getting close to actually firing up this thing. But I am not sure how to proceed. In my head I am going; Level the heck out of this thing. Already leveled the printer itself (hurray for self-printed sucky-sucky-base with adjustable feet) and I will level the bed with the best method available at the moment (still researching the pros and cons of the various methods) Tune my FEP Load the test file and print it. Update the firmware and try slicing something myself and printing that with the stock green resin.
Now, I've seen people taping up the edges of their LCD with Kapton tape. Is that needed? Already getting myself a new USB stick because the original one is reportedly crap. What size USB is best? Is there a max? Got a couple of good SanDisk 16gb ones laying around. formatted to FAT32 with a 32kb cluster size. Is that okay? Am I missing something? Can I just update the firmware first? Should I run the resin calibration file first? 翻譯年糕

I really love the way this Bone Cross turned out. I spent hours manually placing supports to get it right. ? ? ?

Having a print issue & looking for advice.

When I print a multi-sectioned piece with pegs & holes to assemble the entire model, they never seem to fit together. The pegs always seem just a few thou thicker than the hole it is meant to go into. I end up having to dremel down the diameter of the pegs just to get them to fit.

This has been happening to me across multiple models, not just one or two. If I print multiple pieces, they just don't fit together without modification.

I am using Filaments.ca Polyjuice for resin on an original Photon. Any thoughts what settings I should be changing?

Just came across the Tronxy (?TronXY?) Ultrabot. Looks like another photon-style machine, similar price-point to the S. Still a single Z-rail, but I like the double-door design. Has anyone here tried it?

Has anyone used the can primers? If so what have your experiences been? Also, any suggestions on places on where to buy it from that is reliable? I ask because I had a credit card stolen recently and would like to avoid that again. Thanks in advance!

So I installed a new FEP today and started printing again. Got two prints off with no issue. Third didn’t stick to the plate and left a flat outline on the FEP. I know the refrain is to admonish one for not having a level plate but I think it’s something else.

At any rate as I tried to break off the chunk from the FEP I realized how well it was stuck on. Afraid of cutting another FEP I took my time but wondered; what’s the best way to get those things cleaned off? What’s the standard practice? Scrap and pray you don’t destroy it?

Additionally as I rub my scrapper across the FEP I can feel very small imperfections. They won’t come off and I can’t even feel them with my gloved fingers. Is this a show stopper and the FEP is screwed or is this normal?

Thanks in advance
