Anycubic Photon Printer Owners 造訪社團 » ROS

Hi all, i’ve just finished my first print with my new Photon S and all was going well, but.. I washed the vat using alcohol and paper towel as the manual recommended, and at the end, the FEP film does not look fine at all. It’s blurred and less clear than before. Honestly I was hoping this behaves similarly to a window glass which can be wiped to quite clear.
Does this affect the print quality in the future? I mean the UV light should go across the film properly and this blur might cause issues.. or?..

I’m a long-time FDM user adding a Photon S to my lineup. My first test print came out... wonky. One of the crossbars inside the cube barely even printed, it looks almost melted the other looks relatively fine
Does anyone have advice on what I need to adjust? This is just the pre-sliced test that came with the printer, so it shouldn’t be a slicer/setting issue.

WTF is that, a resin slime?!

Anyone know wtf is happend here? I just tested my monstrosity 100w uv chamber and this come out. It is like pudding. I assume that this is just cured resin, but in odd form, maybe becouse of serious power.

I created a monster, that created his own monster... thats make me grandpa Frankenstein? xD

Im ether going to cry or throw this machine out the window if I can't figure this out soon. The last photo is the FEP after I put my scraper through it, so likely the latter. I've run a bunch of calibration tests that came out great, not a settings issue. Different orientation and models all come out the with the same sheet of cured resin on the fep but no part of the print actually failed. This only seems to happen to prints over 30mm in Z, the calibration tests and one short print I did at 27mm looked great. I had an S with v2.9.9 I believe. I've updated to V5 firmware and that's made no difference.

Things that have changed since my last good print.

FEP- two of them, no I didn't leave the film on. Again the prints under 30mm are fine.

Resin (new bottle not different type)- if I got shit resin I would think even the small prints would fail.

Weather- it's winter now and it's colder on the room I print in then before.

LCD cooling and exhaust fans replaced- the exhaust fans didn't last two weeks and the cooling fan wasn't far behind. But even with the exhaust fan disconnected and the old cooling fan making a bunch of nosie it printed fine. The new ones are moving air fine.

I'm thinking this has to be ether it's too cold in the room I print in or my LCD is ether over heating or just having a glitch mid print and periodically curing a huge layer accross the whole screen. I feel like the butterfly pattern looks to confirm this, as it would pull that layer in to the middle as the print continued and the edges of that layer are super thin and flappy and it gets thinker as it gets closer to were the model was printing.

Anyone seen an error like this? I'm thinking it's a failing LCD screen, but it's strange that it's semi-symmetrical across the axis that the models were at to each other on the screen, and not symmetrical across the overall XY area of the screen. I also thought it might be under-supported models, but this one was a hollowed version of the same model.

I know it's really really really hard to tell from photos, but I'm guessing I'm not supposed to be seeing the UV backlight at all though the masked off parts? I know light bleed is common in TVs and these phone screens they use aren't designed to be blasted with 25w UV lamps. Is this normal on the photon? I keep getting a bunch of resin stuck to FEP. Not in places where anything is supposed to print. It isn't a giant sheet across the whole FEP, it's pieces here and there. And it's after every print. Sometimes the print itself is fine, many times there are extra pieces hanging off the print, sometimes it fails in weird places. I'm charging up my other phone so I can record the whole print and see if I have glitches in the middle of a print.

You can see in the pics with paper over the screen that there is a faint glow in the masked parts.

Can I solve this? Yes I have checked the cable is seated. The fans are all working. This has been happening on all different firmwares, official ones, Epax 4.2.18, even phontonsters GUI mod. My motherboard failed and was replaced as well, happened on the old Mobo and the new one.

For those curious this is Bluecast x10, sanded buildplate with bluecast primer cat adhesive, all settings they suggest. (0.05 layer, 9 seconds, 60s bottom layer, 40mm/hr lift speed). Room is at 21°c-25°c. Resin is warmed initially to around 30°c. I get the same kinds of results on all resins.

Hi. Thanks for letting me join.

I have over 10 years of experience working with resins, etc as I worked in the Aerospace industry manufacturing parts from carbon fibre, kevlar and glasscloth etc. While there we "masked off" areas on the parts and on our jigs and fixtures that we didn't want to get resin on with a special UV-rated high temperature resistant tape (The product looks a lot like Sellotape).

Would there be any benefit on covering the base of the build plate and the metal sides of the resin vat with this stuff so as to give it more protection from scrapping?

Important Respiratory Protection Information regarding resins! I want to go ahead and post this information I've fallen back on numerous times in regards to Resin Saftey, specifically about respirators! Please look through the images in this post. This lovely post full of great resources comes from someone in the Ball Jointed Doll community - where pretty much everything is made of some form of mixed or cast resin or another. Since the resin materials are similar I felt it could apply to the use of Resin 3D Printers.
As always, you'll want to refer to the MSDS sheet or label with your individual resin product and follow the safety precautions. But as someone who knows at least 2 individuals that now suffer with Scardosis and other respiratory diseases/damages due to regular exposure to casting resin, sealants, paints, aerosols, etc. I want to share this to spread information, awareness, and most of all SAFETY! Since Ive seen a few videos and posts of people working with their resins without respirators.
Simply Holding your breath does not protect you from respiratory damage! Fumes will damage your lungs. particles from sanding will damage your lungs.
If you damage your lungs breathing is more difficult, and if you can't breathe or your lungs are compromised you could very well die as a side effect.
My Personal Thoughts: I, personally, treat every resin/plastic/casting material the same: It's a mixture of chemicals I barely know anything about the nature of, it's smelly, It burns my throat. So I really don't want it in my lungs. So I ALWAYS wear a respirator. When pouring, mixing resin, filling the vat, and any time I enter the room while my printer is running, when I remove the prints, empty the vat, and clean the prints. Basically once the Printing process begins up until the resin is fully sealed away, and the residual fumes smell is gone.

TLDR; I'm apparently an aspiring OSHA Employee, but I cannot stress enough how important it is to wear the proper saftey gear!
((Mods, feel free to let me know if I need to remove or edit this post! I don't want to come off as preach-y and naggy. But I want to share this info. Because I value the health and safety of myself and others over pretty much anything else. Thank you!))
