I'm getting some weird warping on the edges of larger prints on my Photon. the initial lower levels have an outward slope away from center before straightening up in the upper levels. I'm curious if retrofitting one of the UV matrix light modules of the Photon S might help solve the issue due to the more distributed and direct light pattern. Any thoughts on the viability of this?

Hi,

Im looking for spare UV led sources for the Anycubic Photon (OG).

I know FepShop have them, but they are expensive wij everything, this part included. Does anyone know where to find them? I need several.

Kevib

嗨,

我在尋找任何立方光子(og)的多餘紫外線led源.

我知道fepshop有它們, 但他們是昂貴的wij一切, 包括這部分. 有人知道在哪裡可以找到他們嗎? 我需要幾個.

I mean the part inside the photon. Not an external UV light ?

Window glass blocks some UV, better in direct sun.

Dan Andersson
2020-03-24 14:42:46

20-30 mins sounds very long. You do not want to over cure because the part gets more brittle.

Brandon White
2020-03-24 14:44:42

Dan Andersson it might be but it also depends on uv concentration, 15-20 in, with just sun light my prints are still sticky, its the main reason i switched to a uv light, but im sure in different locations its short times/longer times

Dan Andersson
2020-03-24 14:49:12

If you put your prints in direct sunlight, i have a very hard time to believe that a uv light would be faster. If you have a window between, then it is possible.
A cloudy day is easily beaten with uv light.

Usually uncured resin will take a dent from a fingernail being pressed in. Leave it out in sunlight until it no longer takes a dent

Some parts of my print still feels kinda uncured (like soft/ slimy) after the IPA wash (good shake in dirty, then good shake in clean), about 4 mins (2 mins under UV light for each side) and 30 mins in the sun. Am I doing anything wrong?

Cure them in water

Placing them in a container with clean water under the UV light / direct sunlight helps.

Scrub with a soft toothbrush while in IPA. Don't just shake and/or stir.

i bought a specially soft tooth brush, just enough pressure so it moves the uncured resin but not harming the surface of the half cured model

Dear colleagues,
I just printed an obiwan, 28mm scale for star wars legion.
Having opened the model to add auto supports I sliced it and opened it in the file validator - without closing Chitubox. So when it found an island or unsupported part I could manually add a support, reslice and retry until I just had a few loose pixels to fix. And it worked.
Success off the first print using settings from the sheet. Excellent.
I've then spent an hour shaving the supports off with a craft knife. (The white fluff is shavings)
I haven't used any UV light to cook it, and there is very little flex in the "laser sword" and limbs; it is comparable to a GW plastic figure.
So my question is... should I use my light box to cure it at all?

You can also just click on the "next error" arrow in Photon file validator, and then click on the "red crosshair" ... then you'll get a zoomed in view of the error where you can use left mouse to add pixels and right mouse to remove pixels.
This way you can manually fix your layers too, and sometimes is faster/easier than going back to slicer to add supports.

Xi-Sheng Luo I cycled the errors that way after using auto fix, some of my islands were so big they needed full supports or were the bottom layer of an article hence the back and forth method, the old "paint it to attach" didn't work.

Christopher Barnes

You will need to cure the resin.

Also removing supports is much easier if you soak the print in hot water for a few seconds.

This will also make cutting supports much easier.

Christopher Barnes so I used similar clippers when the supports were still flexible. What consistency am I looking for in "cured" resin I don't want to over cook it.

Christopher Barnes
2020-03-24 04:22:19

Alex Clarke that’s something I’m honestly not great at. I have a tendency to over cook prints by forgetting about them.

But you want to make sure it’s totally dry before curing. And once cured it should no longer be tacky.

Christopher Barnes

Alex Clarke I just made a post in this group a few minutes ago. In it you will see a large bunker wall with probably 100 supports. I dipped that in hot water and was able to pull everything off by hand after a few seconds. It left minimal marking too.

Should I print with my standard Photon in a sunny room? Just curious if enough UV is kept out by yellow panels...

While printing yes, though especially while on standby covering it with a thick black bag or something will help, since the screen won’t block all uv...

2nd attempt finished and looking really good, I know it’s only the test print but it’s only my 2nd day with the Anycubic Photon. Again thanks for your words of wisdom. Post printing left in warm soapy water for a few minutes whilst putting the resin back and then cured in uv light for a couple of minutes, not perfect but decent start, now onto my own designs.

Most of the resin was poured out so just used a tissue to wipe and warm soapy (fairy liquid) water again with a tissue to wipe clean now left to dry.
