Heya does anyone have advice for how to use supports? What software do you use? I've tried meshmixer, flashprint, Asura and now the Photon one. So far Photon seems best but I wanted to know your thoughts! I hear the zortrax one is great but you need a zortrax printer code to dl it sooo..

Does someone have any good support settings for either the Photon Slicer or MeshMixer.

I mainly use my Photon for miniatures but recently the supports keep failing on me and I get warped prints, incomplete prints or no prints at all. I have experimented with multiple tilts, supports, settings but I haven't come close yet.

Can anyone share their secret with me? :)

What slicer are y'all using these days? The latest version of Anycubic's official one definitely improved support generation but I'm still not satisfied. (My last job took almost an hour to manually adjust supports so that cross-members weren't passing through the model, etc. Then I lost 20+ minutes of work to a Chinese error I couldn't read. :( )

I've previously tried using Meshmixer's support generation but wasn't super pleased with those results either.

Does anyone else have problems with Meshmixer constantly crashing? Chitubox does it too. It gets so bad that sometimes I can barely get anything done.

Hello, I am new to the group I usually print FDM (for the last 5 years) but I convinced the office to buy a DLP to test... since I have the machine I did 10 prints and had no problem they all came out nicely...

my problem is to get used to the support system, the upside down print and last but not least the Anycubic Slicer that seriously needs some improvement

(I rather not use Meshmixer it freezes my computer ALL THE TIME)

My questions are:

1) the art of support. There is a site or a book where someone analyzes many printed object pointing out where supports are critical?
I prefer to place them semi-manually usually but I lack a deep technical knowledge or experience of when and where we REALLY need them

2) How to nicely clean a piece from supports any special advice I use tiny curve scissor and my hands are in pain for the last 4-5 days and almost got blinded by a piece jumping in my eye

3) Anycubic slicer: I like to work with automatic support then remove most of what I don't think is needed then add some for the final touch but it is really... really hard to work in it!!!
there is any secret command like slicing&support like in simplify3d

As you can see in the picture I got better and with TEST 4 I was able to preserve most of the detail in TEST 2 hands was floating as well as the face tentacle...after printing test 4 I notice 4-5 support were to close to the body and difficult to remove but very hard to select and move in Anycubic slicer

I think the SLA gods approve of the new shelf, but they still do not give full blessing.. Massive info download below, I've been trying to rule out as much as possible:

- I cleaned my plate & vat thoroughly, re-leveled it before I ran this print.
- I'm using Anycubic brand Black resin, which I shook for 5 minutes solid to make sure I had a good mix.
- Followed the Google Doc's recommended program for Anycubic Black - .025 Layer Height, 7.5 Normal Exposure, 3.5 Off Time, 90s Bottom Exposure, 3 Bottom Layers.
- My print room can get pretty cool, so I let my space heater run in there for a bit to warm the room up to mid 60F
- Used Meshmixer's Analysis > Orientation feature on each mini. MM's supports, were first autogenerated, then forced a few additional in parts I thought needed more help. Included a screenshot of my settings.

Worth noting -- the last 2 prints I've run, the bottom of the vat clung to the LCD and wouldn't slide out easy. Enough so that when the vacuum broke, there was a good 'pop' as the seal broke. During printing, I heard nothing out of the ordinary. There was no residue on the LCD when I cleaned (I gently ran a razor over the LCD to check, no snags or residue). Could the FEP need replacing? It's a bit cloudy, and does have a few marks & crease lines in the plastic, particularly with this Anycubic Black, since the supports are much, much harder to knock off with the scraper.

I'm dumb. Is there a way to remove individual holes generated in Meshmixer?

Meshmixer has amazing tree supports, if only they were able to be controlled in a repeatable way without crashing. It is totally unsable except in emergencies, where it may let you do something, but won't give the same result twice in a row, and you will be lucky if
it doesn't crash. I tried versions 3.3, 3.4, and 3.5 on Windows 10.

Trying Meshmixer tree supports. I had two problems.

One was that the veins were too close to the part - not on the contact area, but on the trunk. Any idea how I can make a larger offset? There is no documentation for the settings.

Also, it put support even if there was a 0.3mm shelf. The support did more harm than good. How can I tell it to ignore features smaller than 0.5mm?
