Dear Group,
I have purchased a photon, and have spent some time reading your posts and collating a kit (it has pretty much everything you guys have suggested in it).
I plan to get setup and running over the weekend. I have an FDM printer and laser cutter and so have some experience with machine preparation and patience...
I have watched YouTube photon specific vids you have linked on film tension, plate levelling and gap setting. I have found them helpful and informative. (Tension setting with a bottle lid sounds crazy until you see it)

I'm ready. (Famous last words).

So;
Does my screen need to resonate at 350hz?
Do you have any general tips or things to look out for when setting up and for my first print?
Do you think I should dive in and start with the cube or run some exposure tests first?

I just got my Photon and there’s good news and bad news.

Good news is that I got the test cube to print just fine.

Bad news is that I tried to print a HeroForge mini and it turned into something ungodly on the printer. I used settings found in the google sheet examples in ChiTuBox V1.4.0.

Based on what I do for FDM printing, I rotated mini back 45 degrees, added a raft and did auto supports. I’m also using the original thumb drive.

How many places did this noob screw up?

Chitubox Gcode settings

Hello Chitubox users,
I'm experimenting around with the Gcode tab and am wondering if anyone has ever been playing around with different lift acceleration using the M201 command? I'd love to know if there are constraints as to what commands can be used and what can't. Coming from FDM printing it would open up a lot of familiar territory for me. Thank you all!

I don't remember who posted a short video yesterday about "wash in hot water before curing" but it worked fine for me.
Supports are like smooth or soluble after 5 minutes in hot water. If he read me > Merci :)

Few prints of the day, really happy and still learning.... Hey, i changed my first FEP without trouble !! The most difficult was to find a cap lol.
Anycubic Skin : 0.04 / 8 bottom / 10s Expo / 80s Base / 1s / 0s.

I find how to use my FDM for Photon usage.... ;)

Hi peeps. Not new to 3d printing but new to resin printing. I was wondering if anyone has printed tanks 15mm scale for FOW. I printed one its came out very nice but its printed as a solid so will use a fair bit of resin. Is there a way to hollow out the tanks to use less resin.

The stls im using are more possibly used on fdm so therefore can lower infill etc.

Any help is a bonus. Cheers.

Hello everyone,
I am looking to buy my first resin printer, after i seen CNCkitchen review of Siraya Blu resin.

For start, should i opt Photon, S version ,EPAX X1, or Shuffle?

PS (i m 2 years active in FDM, and looking to print mostly functional parts, prototypes using Siraya resins)

So what’s the best balance for quality and speed? I printed a small model yesterday. It was maybe 2” tall. Took eleven hours at .03 resolution. Seems a bit slow, but I’m accustomed to FDM printing.

OK, inching toward first test prints on the blue window photon i brought back from the dead. Which will be my first resin prints ever. Just FDM printing so far for me.

Went to try the Flint Reed method of leveling and the build plate arm bottoms out on the side of the vat while there is still lots of play in the build plate.

I disassembled and cleaned the whole ball joint assembly and there was some resin in there but it wasn't hardened.

The FAQ doesn't mention this.

Is there something about the build of the machine i should check before i just go ahead and install some washers between the build plate and the piece that connects it to the ball joint?

I was thinking about printing a fan duct from my fdm printer and I was curious how well resin would hold up to the heat. Has any one done this or know if it works? the only resin I have is anycubic green
