Anycubic Photon Printer Owners 造訪社團 » FDM

Hi Guys, this is going to be interesting.

So as you know I design a lot of scale parts for my RC helis - this means parts are exposed to vibration, elements, wind - the works.
So far for the small scale fittings I was doing prints on Anycubic Photon (Ameralabs and Siraya resins) and if something had more curviture or was bigger - Peopoly Moai.
FDM was used only for big parts. Now after finishing building my e3d tool changer I decided to optimized my Prusa MK3S for fine detail printing
- prints with ASA
- layer height of 0.05mm (most of my photon prints i do at 0.04 or 0.05)
- 0.15mm nozzle (so twice the diameter of Peopoly Moai laser, photon res is 0.047 by 0.047 but obviously this means aliasing)

I wanted to see how much detail I can get
And I do have to say - to a naked eye there is no loss of fidelity, even under a microscope the difference in detail is managable.

Prints have to be done with ABS or ASA (petg or pla may clog)
Benefits
- parts are lighter, the wire cutter on fdm was 3g vs 8g resin (ASA density is 1.09g/cm3 vs resin that is on 1.35,also can do very thing permiters i.e 0.45mm)
- parts are stronger

Drawback
- marginal loss of fidelity
- print times on average 3x of how long it would tool on photon with 12s exposure.

Oh, acetone smoothing on more organic parts - wow!
-

指紋必須用abs或asa完成(petg或pla may clog)

I've got a short story, and a need for recommendations.

So, my boss asked me to start working on a project involving 3D printers. He had an old FDM printer that finally bit the dust, and asked me about resin printers. I have been using my Photon since around Christmas and love it. Per said boss's request, the last few work days have consisted of me doing research that I have already done and typing up a "report" of my findings that I already knew about. This is the part that I need recommendations on. I use the Elegoo Grey resin since I print and paint minis, but would need to use a bright colored resin for what I will be printing for my job. We do construction testing so orange, yellow, and red would be the preferred colors. What colorful resins have people had a lot of success with and would recommend that I use?

Hey Folks! Happy to join the group. I have a new photon coming via amazon tomorrow. I spent a few hours reading today as I'm coming over from FDM so this is a lot of new rules. I think I have a handle on it, got chitubox set up, designed a ring and prepped it for printing. Excited for the hilariously bad first couple prints.

Not saying my FDM printer is bad but dear God look at the difference. I can count his little rat fingers. This is a lamp base for a collaboration I am working on with another artist.

First attempt of a miniature on my photon and painted it accordingly. Very happy with the results, pretty new to resin, have been using FDM for a while now.

Hello all, After the mold to make its own silicone spatula (allowing to scrape the resin from the vat without damaging the FEP here https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4115962 ), here is a stand that completes it! Indeed, it will allow you to empty and filter the resin from your vat directly in the bottle. I know there are already quite a few models of this kind available on Thingiverse, but mine fits on a v-slot linear rail of the same kind as the frames of FDM printers.
Each part (base, filter support and tank support) is mobile and is held in place with an M5 screw. The linear rail is 20x20mm. The system is quite stable and I added a small angle of 10° to the vat support so that the resin flows well in the filter. I made sure that the support does not protrude at all from the vat so that we can come and scrape it with the silicone spatula without discomfort. In the same way as the last time, I will add the Thingiverse link if I see that it interests people.
EDIT: here is the link! https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4149707 翻譯年糕

My FDM is driving me nuts at the moment (TMC CONNECTION ERROR) but the Photon S gave me a nice result on this miniature I’ve made to test my custom support settings.

The post process felt actually kind of as “de stressing” ...

4cm total height
Roughly 3.2 cm to the top of the head

Hi all, looking for advice on positioning a large model I have been asked to make.

This model is 125.5x55x5mm. My build area is 120X68X150mm.

In picture 1 you can see it is too big to lay flat. Is picture 2 the only real option? It is at a 45 degree angle.

Is this the best angle or should I use more or less?

Any other suggestion?

Normally I'd do this on an FDM but the customer wants resin.
