Siraya blu now dialed in, now to start the fdm printer parts ?

Just added a close up of the finished print standing on it's landing gear. After its wash in resinaway (ultrasonic), then 99.9% IPA.

Hi,

Is it possible to use heat to modify resin based prints? On FDM I can use a wax pen to correct imperfections and also for repairing broken parts by fusing them. I understand that these are not thermoplastic materials by definition but I was wondering how they react to heat

Thanks

With my FDM printer, the slicer software had a way to make the objects hollow and use a fill setting. Is there a way to do that with the Photon slicer? If not, what software would you use?

hi all .
got a question .
anubic photon s vs d7 pro in same price range
which one is easier for new user ?
i mean out of box ..

with fdm u need to fixx al time something
nozzle , bed ,glue ,hairspray, tape temps sometime this next day u cant get print on same temps etc etc
i read these couple days you guys have problem too with top layers sticking but how i get is over 8 are less prone to problems

i know that this is photon group d7pro got a bit bigger build zone and reading reviews they all got pluses and minuses but most i don't understand ..
so can u suggest which one is easy to use out of box ?
and where in europe i can get good price for it :)
thanks

Printer came today :) and was slow at work and got to go home early to play with my new toy ? first print was going good, went shopping and came back to that, reformated the USB (I knew it wasn't a good idea to use the stock, but I tried anyways) so far so good on attempt number two. Puts my fdm benchys all to shame. Can't wait till it's done.

Hi,
I am looking forward to recieve my printer and at the same time I am trying to learn ChiTuBox. I own an FDM machine and print anatomical models (bones and vessels) created using CT data from real patients. The method to extract this kind of data is to define a gray scale threshold on the images and discard every other structure in the image. The problem is that bones are not entirely made of compact bone, but also contain spongious bone (mostly inside the bone), which is, well, spongious. so there are innumerable holes inside these bones. I can 3d print these on FDM machines, using Simplify3D's "merge outlines into a single solid model" option. I wonder if there is a similar solution for resin based printers (I have tried to slice one of my models on ChiTuBox and the validator told me that I had literally hundreds of layers with unfixable islands, so I don't think they can be printed in their native state). As a reference I've attached one of my models printed on a FDM printer.

Does anyone leave resin in the printer indefinitely? Could it be done if you put the entire printer in a lightproof box? I am transitioning my printing from FDM to DLP Resin. Looking for ways to reduce time spent on pre-printing rituals and post processing.

I’m an fdm printer and have my photon out for delivery today. I like to get opinions on slicers since cura doesn’t have a setting for the photon. Should I wait for the software that comes with it or is there something else out there I should look at?

This may be more of a general question, but I'm probably going to get the Photon to print it so it's relevant:

What's the smallest thickness that these printers can do? I'm used to designing for FDM but I'm currently designing a Mouse Droid for printing at 1:12th scale (about 21mm) tall.

Some of the smaller parts are around 0.05mm thick (see the blue lines).

I just want to be sure that it's going to print, or should I be making some changes now before I try?

Any info would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.
