question on supports......

Are supports more about stability during printing and the obvious "free hanging" type areas of a model OR are they required all over the place like I see on many photos? Is there a maximum overhang threshold similar to fdm printing and that is where supports come in?

Assuming you have a flat build plate connection of say 1"x1" (just for discussion sake - I realize angled prints are arguably better) and if you increase the exposure time for each layer, does that in any way eliminate a need for a lot of excess support material? I am just curious - no experience other than fdm printing for 2 years on my end so curious.

Just looking for some guidance/direction as I set up the printer and get moving on some things this weekend. Thx!

Hi all, I'm contemplating getting a Photon, Is there anything not completely obvious that I should know or any mods I should look into? I've had an FDM printer for a couple of years now so I know about some things.

Hey everyone! Not sure if people are still having Z wobble issues but I recently modded my photon yet again with this rail guide I modeled. It is designed to attach directly on the back aluminum block using the existing srews/screwholes.

Quick and easy mod if you have an FDM around.

It seems to have helped mine a lot but also I made some other mods as well (put some skateboard bearings inside the build plate arm).

Hope it helps!

Does anybody use one of these in school? Have one at home and love it! When I took my prints into work (I’m the d&t technician) everyone asked me to find out if we could have one in schools with the h&s, but can find very little information, loads about fdm printers.

I added some Form-2 materials to my torsion testing - so now we have a basis for comparison to Photon results.

If you want a material tested, please message me and mail me the part, or you can buy the test meter for $45. I am interested in FDM materials also.

Hi everyone, first of all, love this group, it has given me some usefull information regarding anycubic photon. Just bought the machine 2 days ago, this is my first dlp machine. I use and still run fdm.

Anyway just a few question regarding slicing object and supports:

1. What is the downside and upside in printing flat?
2. What is the downside and upside in printing angle (45 or under)?
3. If i want to print solid and quite heavy what is the best one (flatbor angle)?
4. If printing several item (same object), does it effects the quality compare to print one?
5. Is the autosupports works properly and efficiently?
6. And last one, let say i printed one object for several hours, how long is allowed to let the object stick on the build plate before going to washed with the alcohol. (In room no window/uv)

Really apreciate your input and idea,
Thanks guys

Evening all. I'm having a clear out to make space for a photon S to go with my mk1 so I have some FDM filament needing a new home with one of you lovely Phontonsters.

Anybody interested (sorry UK only due to postage) 900grams of trans blue Rigid Ink PMMA, yours for £25 shipped.

Drop me a PM first come first serve. If nobody wants it it's going in the bin.

Is there an online troubleshooting guide for these things much like for the FDM machines? I'd love to be able to diagnose my own problems

So I just got my Photon, and before I got I played around withthe original Slicer and Chitubox and I really like Chitubox better. Can someone share their support settings? And please share any relevant information, tips and tricks on placement. I'm coming from FDM printers so this is a little different.
