Hey folks, question. I get a good amount of hardened (rubbery) resin at the edges of my vat, where the FEP meets the aluminum. Just like a mm or two. I can “scrape” it out with the plastic spatula but the little bits of chaff are annoying to clean up as they stick to the FEP. Why does this happen and how might I keep it from happening? Thank you all in advance. (Sorry no pics, I’m printing right now).

If my printer is in a colder room... say... in the garage and about 40-45 degrees F.... should I modify the exposure time?

Hello phellow photonsters, I have a question about layer thickness. With my Photon S, I have almost always printed 28mm gaming minis at 0.02mm, but I see many of you printing them at 0.05mm. Are you satisfied with that res once you've painted them? Layers can be accentuated by washes and dry-brush techniques. I know that on some larger surfaces (like a shield), I can still see the layers at 0.02. Am I just picky? I would love to turn my 15 hour prints into 6 hour prints. What are your thoughts?

Hey folks. I need to get a new pair of ‘side nippers’ to cut supports from prints. They need to be small and have a precise cutting surface that is clean on one side.

Any ideas or favorites?

Hey folks, I have a question. Have any of you accidentally moved the build plate down 10mm while less than 10mm off the glass?

Well, I did and it scared the crap out of me!! The motor made a straining sound and I hear a clock. Oh man my heart was in my throat!

The printer seems fine and I’ve printed lots of nice, high res prints since then.

But man, it’s too easy to do, frankly. You’ve often got gloves on, the screen is so small and you press buttons so repeatedly.... The software should lock out the down arrow when it’s set on 10mm and it’s lower than 10 mm. Seriously... why not!? It knows where the build plate is!

Grr.

BTW, I love my Photon S. I’ve printed through about 1200 ml of resin. And it’s awesome. I’ve made lots of 28mm sized miniatures for painting. Often from Heroforge (Black Friday sale for the win!!
