Painters! I have an online tool for you. This is called Gamut mask, a fast way to find out a working palette for your next miniature painting session. The old fashioned way is to cut a mask, print a color wheel and move the mask around to find the color set you want, you'd tape it down and hope no paint, resin, coffee nor hand or paw will disturb it. There's a little tutorial of how to use the mask if you scroll down ?

Printed quite simple 12mm stud earrings for the summer. Going to do some molds today for wax patterns, which I'll cast later in silver ? The round buttons will have enamel...Ah, I love this machine; it would have been a pain to do the symmetrical pattern from 0.5mm silver wire, a tiny bit of sanity saved.

It's that time of the month again! And no, not talking about turning into the Red Queen seen in Resident Evil...nor the Red Queen in Alice in Wonderland. Nothing to do with THAT. Fear not. It's the time of the month where I can be an absolute hermit! ? So, to stay in the theme, I modeled a hermit crab that's going to be a keychain, eventually. It's a collector. It collects things found in your pocket...when you're sure to have placed something in your bag and it's gone: It's this guy. Problem is, that keys are just too big to be placed inside the shell, so he'll just have to hold on to them ?

Ooooh. Thought this might be useful for those who work with reference images; it's free (with an option to give $5 to development). It's pretty damn Awesome to keep everything in one place and organized. You can set different modes, like to stay over the program you're using or made transparent if needed. Real little gem.

Well, Hello! How are my lovely Phomans doing today? Thought to share the process of a commission that I'm working on. It's going to be one fancy fork, that I'll eventually cast in silver.
What I've done since yesterday, was to get the vague concept to the point, where it's easy to see all the big shapes. The major bits and pieces are now shaped and measured to ensure that A) can create a mold, B) it's going to fill without hiccups. I'll most likely add a few more branches that connect with the crane, but I'll leave that to later.
Today I'll start to refine the bird and add more shape to it ? Details! This is my favorite part. I'll add new pics under this same post to keep the groups feed free of floating process images.

Popping in to say hi ? I've been living in my cozy, self-inflicted bubble for about a week and have studied some anatomy and figures and poses and drawing aaaand Zbrush. Did finish a large pendant, too. The studies are a bit off-topic, but since this group is so awesome I'd like to ask, that does anyone know another facebook group or a site, that has a good constructive user base especially for drawing and designing. Conceptart used to be great, but now it's pretty much manga. I did test an art group yesterday, but it's...well, "Arty." If I draw a line and post it, it's amazing how much nonsense you can receive. Interesting, but not exactly what I'm looking for to improve. So, if anyone can point me to the right direction, I'd appreciate it.

Evening, fellow tinkerers. Here's something for those whom would like to try an alternative base, but don't know how to make one or just simply feeling lazy (which is fine, by the way). Tested it today and it sure sticks to the build plate like gum to your clothes!
All you have to do is download the file, open with the slicer and scale it to fit the size of your print. Used a thickness of 0.5mm here, remember to turn off "lock ratio" as otherwise you'll end up having a teeny tiny grid.
When making supports: turn Raft setting to Null and change the Bottom's Shape to Cylinder and it's Radius to 1,00. Now you can either hit auto-support or manually add your own.
The printed grid is very flexible, which helps with cutting off the supports...plus you'll end up having this pretty neat hexagon grid to use with your miniature projects ?

Testing Bluecast ? first failed middle of the print: forgot to make supports heavier than I normally would and used a box shaped raft, which I could easily slide off the build plate. Scary. Edit: pressed send too early ? The next set came out much better, used an idea by Christopher (thank you) and made a raft full of small holes; worked much better, but I'm still thinking of sanding the build plate for a better grip. I fear if I sneeze next to the printer, the prints will just slide off...for my own sanity or what's left of it, I'll get me sandpaper!

Phew! Modeling more horoscopes for printing and casting. This time it was Virgo's turn. Still feel a little uncomfortable with human based models, need to study more so I would not struggle as much ? Aquarius is next. Pretty sure I'm going bald ?
