What causes resin to harden around the bottom inside edge of the vat? I found a bead of hardened resin along all four edges of the FEP (which was leaking).

Can anyone enlighten me on how infill works in ChiTuBox (and resin printing in general)? It has two options: None and Grid3D. I'm coming from the FDM world and I don't get it. Thanks.

I recently installed ChiTuBox on my Linux desktop. When it's running and I press F2, my rename function doesn't work, and F3 brings up some kind of screen capture function. Their release notes refer to F1 being "Record" and F2 "Stop recording" and F3 "Screenshots." What purpose do these serve, and how do I turn these functions off so I can keep my key functionality while using ChiTuBox?

Any Photon owners in the Seattle/Tacoma/Issaquah area? I've had my CR10 for about 9 months and have made a ton of prints, but I'm thinking of getting more into miniatures. I'd love to meet someone with a Photon, and actually see what it's like--print quality, post-processing, clean-up, smells (mine will be in a closed room), etc.--before dropping five bills on another printer. If you'd be willing to let me come observe, I'll even pay for the resin! :) You can see some of my stuff on the CR10 Facebook page. Thanks. ?

Hey, I opted for a CR-10 a few months back and have been fairly happy with it. I'm now thinking of adding a Photon into the mix. I've read tons of glowing reviews and experiences, but I'd like to hear the *other* side. What, if anything, has been a problem, annoyance, frustration for users of the Photon: Build volume, support issues/cleanup, failed prints, adhesion problems, etc.?

With FDM, I've dealt with filament tangles, adhesion issues, layer separation, layer lines, filament quality, etc. I've solved all of them at various times (usually more than once!) and I know SLA won't be perfect, but I'd like to have my eyes wide open going in. Thanks in advance.

Hey, I purchased a CR10 Mini and love it, but there are some limitations which are leading me toward possibly adding a Photon.

I can't find any prints of warships such as Bismarck or Missouri. These have lots of overhangs: masts, superstructure, gun barrels, etc. They also have lots of horizontal flat surfaces (turrets, decks, etc.) that come out pretty heavily "lined" in FDM.

How would the Photon do on such models? Would they require tons of support structure, and if so, how easily and cleanly can that be removed? Thanks!

Hey everybody. Just joined, thanks for having me.

I'm looking to getting into 3D printing. I've built a few 3D models and printed via Shapeway, but going forward I'd would like to do it myself, hobbyist-level. Currently, I'm more interested in small models: game pieces, figurines, toy parts, etc., so I'm seriously considering the Photon. I have a heated office in my garage, so odor and temperature control isn't a big concern. Desktop space a bit more so.

However, I don't know what I might want to do in the future: possibly bigger builds of models, statuettes, etc. So I'm also considering the CR10 Mini or the Qidi X-one 2. (That name's so awkward. Why not the "X-two"?)

For starting out, maybe I'd find FDM to be adequate, as well as a couple of Franklins cheaper. But man, I do like those smooth surfaces and details in resin! Eventually, I might end up with both technologies.

I'm guessing many/most of you have both. If you hopped in your Wayback Machine, would you start with FDM and move up to DLP, or vice versa?

I recognize y'all don't know me and it's hard to advise me, specifically, but I thought I might glean some insights from any experiences and thoughts you're willing to share. Thanks.
