Need help with a Photon S problem. Does anybody ever find that when you go to the click print and it brings up the preview screen, that certain files freeze up the machine and you can't click print (or anything)? Some files this happens on, others it does not. I'm not sure how to resolve it. Sometimes reslicing the file fixes it, and sometimes just copying it back over the .photons file fixes it. I've ruled out the memory card as I've encountered the issue across 3 different known good cards (none of which came with the machine.) Any ideas?

Hey Photon friends, do you find that when you scale a multi-part print that the connecting pegs no longer fit the holes? Trying to sort out why some of my multi-parts not assembling without a lot of sanding work and I'm thinking that is the culprit.

Monocure flex100 users who mix it in for resilience in miniatures-- what percentage of flex are you using? What corresponding exposure time increase was needed? Have you seen any issues with painting adhesion (including cracking from movement)?

I think I finally got all my settings down! Best detailed print yet.

Since people are posting workspaces, I haven't seen one that is fully self-contained yet.

Photon-S using Elegoo grey. Layer height .02. Bottom layer 10, 50s, no light off delay. Exposures (from top left to bottom right) 6s, 8s, 10s, 12s. Please disregard the quality of the base layers as the 6s was done with supports and the others on the plate (really hard to get off without damaging like the cracked triangle building in the 12s front side).

The shared Resin doc suggestions 14s for elegoo grey at 0.02 height and similar resins at this height (anycubic grey 12s, wanhao grey 11.4s) suggested at higher time values. However, these are all given for the original Photon.

From looking at all sides--sorry for the poor photo quality--I would say 8s is probably the best range. Clarity of back side lines with proper depth and building separation from above, among other things.

So assuming correct times in the document, I would assume the differences comes from the upgraded UV array in the S? This would also suggest that people using the S model do their own resin tests until there are reliable resources for the newer model?

Also, if anyone has a better way to test exposure on the S--since there isn't a resin exposure test available yet--then please let me know. Otherwise I plan to redo these soon when I start using 10% monocure flex100.

What resolution do people generally print with for miniatures? 25 microns, 50 microns? Lower? Assume an opaque grey resin (e.g., Elegoo), with the model properly angled for some meaningful detail on the Z-Axis. I have noticed that even 50 microns shows up once primed. Is the only disadvantage an increase in time? Would also love to hear from some painters that are critical of their small details.

edit: So far, I've learned that I need to go to 10 micron increments for the motor. Thanks everyone who commented - now using 0.2 instead of 0.25!

With many in this group amassing large collections of STL files, has anyone found a good software solution for tagging and organizing them? Even just supporting a few patreons starts to build up a large collection. I know there is a tweak to get STL files to render thumbnails in windows, but it is slow and buggy and still relies on browsing through folders. Something akin to picasa or lightroom for managing images?

Hello Photon friends,

Everything was going great until the other day. I started to see this weird thin layer under the support bases. Also supports that had printed just fine started to separate at the connection point. No changes to chitubox settings that have worked for a while. Confirmed the build plate is also still nice and level. Video of screen test. You can see striations toward the right, but i dont remember if those were there before. Thoughts?
