Anyone used these fep sheets?
Been having problems since installing one and then have swapped it again since to see if I had not done it correctly.
Symptom was prints either not sticking to the build plate, but instead at some point during the print sticking to the fep!
Same print files as before the issues, I have even discarded the resin I was using before all of this in case it was old.
I have a couple more of this type, but also a couple of anycubic ones.. So deciding which to fit now.

I bought a new photon from Amazon last week to go alongside my original photon.
I knew it might be a "Photon Updated" or Fauxton, even though in the description it was just listed as a Photon without indication of the version.
I was all prepared to buy an original photon motherboard, to convert a "Photon Updated" into a "Photon" as having two printers with the same spec was important to me, so much so that £100 for a new motherboard, less whatever I could sell the "Photon Updated" or "S" board for to someone needing a spare, was well worth it.
Anyway, there was two options on Amazon, "Photon with extras" (resin etc) with a manufacturers code of "Photon 001" , or "Photon without extras" with a £15 difference in price with a manufacturer code of "PTA002"...
From this I can conclude that the one without resin in Amazon UK seems to be the original Photon, I have just populated a shopping cart with a quantity of "100" and then gone through to the purchase screen, and it is confirming Amazon have the 100 to send, so probably more than this!
Normally if you put in a stock level that your amazon region does not have, in the final screen of the shopping cart it will say "Sorry only X amount available in stock for immediate dispatch"
So if you want a new Original Photon and you are in the UK, Amazon still have them.

Product review... 5m LED UV Strip from Amazon - Buyer beware! When I first got my Photon in August, I obviously needed a curing station, so followed what many in here had done and made one from a box, lined in foil, with some ventilation and lined it with 5m of led strips from Amazon. This worked great for a few hours in total, I probably used it in 10 min blasts a couple of times a week. They worked fine at first, finally curing parts in about 10 mins of exposure.
Within about 3 weeks I noticed that the LED strips were becoming dimmer and were less purple and more white coloured light. It was also taking longer to finally cure parts.
Then quickly the next time I used the curing station I noticed the light was now coming out in a yellow or orange colour and was not seeming to cure the parts at all.
Then I put a dot of fresh resin, on a microscope slide and put it into the curing station and switched it on... After half an hour, the resin was still a complete liquid!!

So I removed the LED strips, looked more closely and could see that the rubbery coating on them had yellowed all the way through, wherever there was an LED component.

So I logged into Amazon and requested a product return and typed in a description of the problem, "Coating is not UV friendly, has degraded and yellowed, blocking the UV light and making the product not fit for use"
I completely forgot about this, until today I had another email from Amazon asking how the seller had dealt with my complaint and product return.
So, I checked Amazon, no messages there from the seller, and also checked my email accounts, no messages there either. and left my comments with Amazon in their questionnaire. explaining that I will throw the product away, review it, and contact my bank for a chargeback"
So here is my review chaps, avoid this product.
I have peeled off the coating, which comes off in 10mm bits, one part came off in a 200mm length, which I have added the picture here.
Unfortunately even when the coating is removed, there is still a sliver still stuck to the LED's which will not come off and is still not allowing the UV through.
Here is a link to the product on Amazon, it is probably sold by various sellers, but design is the problem, and if they cocked up the material selection for the waterproofing, who knows what else they cocked up in the design, so I would not even buy the non waterproof version!

I would like to report a great experience with Anycubic recently!
Just over a week ago my main board in my Photon (classic) had signs of being dead. Having bought the printer in August I was out of the Amazon return deadline, so dreaded trying to get a warranty repair or replacement with a company in China.
But I was really pleasantly surprised.
Last week I contacted Anycubic via their official UK Amazon store and told them about the problem, and that I had followed the instructions in their YouTube faulty motherboard diagnosis video.
Initially, I did not think they had responded, as in my Amazon message page, I had not realised there was a "buyer/seller" tab, where within 24 hours they had responded to me. I found this last friday!
They had responded that the fastest way for me to get a replacement would be by buying a new main board from their Amazon store, and once it had shipped they would refund me...
I was slightly skeptical, but I ordered the board on the friday night and on Monday it arrived.
Tuesday I fitted it, and have been up and running with my printer again all week.
Many thanks to Anycubic, in particular their customer care lady Jessi, who was really helpful in resolving this, and even provided some links on Amazon with discount codes for buying their resins cheaper!
All in all, I am really impressed with them.
I just hope they can release the source code for the new Photon and stick to what they promised they would do with rebranding the photons with the new board as "Photon Updated", as I would really love this group and Photonsters to get along with Anycubic, it is one thing I really loved about the photon and the photon community... Anyway, just thought I would write a positive experience with Anycubic and give them some credit where it was due!

Bit of a high tech question here.. With our 3D printers what are the typical types of resin used? Are they based on...
* Acrylates
* Methacrylates
* Epoxides
* Polyesters
I am just trying to research the chemisty of our resins (I am an engineer not a chemist) as I want to undersand the process some more so I can modify and blend off the shelf resins with other compounds to produce different engineering benefits from the prints.

Photon Motherboards.
With all this talk of motherboards, my inner autism is itching about details.
Has anyone got a photo of their motherboard they can share?
I have pictures of my motherboard in my Photon Classic (Chitu V2.9) and I have pictures of a PhotonS (Anycubic V1.4.0,) but I am interested in seeing any other versions, especially the PhotonUpdated or Fauxton (Anycubic v1.9.0)
Anyone got any pictures? In particular I am interested in the claims that the V1.9.0 has no ethernet port and if that is the case, how else the board differs. 翻譯年糕

Has anyone tried any resins with properties more like nylon for wear resistance?
In particular I have a project where I will have small gears under very little load and running at very low rpms and notice with standard resins the surface quickly develops white dust where the resin part interfaces with other cogs, which could see the parts wearing out quickly.

Anycubic still on the naughty step after their announcement that they will be rebranding the fauxton as a "Photon Updated" and the old classic as just the photon?? (On Amazon UK the model number has changed to Photon001 for the original one.)

They also announced that the new firmware will allow the new file type, but also the original "Photon" file type.

So my question is, have they done enough, and if not, what are the remaining issues?

Are Anycubic staff members of this Group or in communication with the Photonsters?

Is it right that the only outstanding issue now is the lack of an ethernet port?

Lastly, does anyone know if the PhotonS board is plug for plug compatible with the original Photon board? (I ask because my mainboard is dead, and I am now wondering if I am likely to get a PhotonS board instead of the original!)

Has anyone bought a replacement main board for their photon?
How much do they cost and where can you get one? All the ones I can find are around 160 euros!
What is the warranty and what is it like to get a replacement from any cubic?
Are there common causes of failures with them?
This is a genuine original, about 3 months old bought through amazon
