I know this may be a long shot, but would anyone on here be able to open a .3ds file (with autodesk or similar), and export some of the components as separate .stl or similar files for me?
I have a car model that I would like to modify and print in separate parts (chassis, hood, front bumper, rear bumper, etc). It came in .3ds and .stl formats among others, but the car was saved as a full assembly of parts, which is very difficult for me to work with in solidworks, since importing the mesh file results in lots of surface and gap errors and confusion as to where one section ends and the next one starts.
Im hoping that if it were exported in those individual sections instead of as an assembly, it would import much more smoothly and I wont have to spend days separating them by hand.
