So just checking with everyone. After your print you are all removing supports and then sanding if needed BEFORE uv curing, correct?
Sander van Deijl 2020-03-29 22:27:48
Remove support before post-curing, but I’d sand after post-curing. Altough, I don’t need to sand.

Some people do, some don't. I like to on model that are tough. If the model has small parts that might bend before curing I'll cure it first.
Ryan Walmsley 2020-03-29 22:29:10
I see a mixture of things, some say to cure with supports some say not. I usually wash with supports, then cure without supports but may try with supports as one delicate model fell apart when trying to remove them.
Matt Stone 2020-03-29 22:29:46
Always removing before curing. The group suggested putting it in hot water before pulling off the supports and holy shit.. it works so well. I do t have scarring on the prints, they don't break the prints. It's amazing.
Ernest Sandridge Ill 2020-03-29 22:44:53
Yeah, warm water for a few seconds and it practically peels off. It's satisfying like picking a scab
Gary Slovinsky 2020-03-29 23:32:59
Definitely the best bet on delicate and non-delicate prints is clean then warm to hotish water and supports almost fall off on their own. THEN cure. Sand as needed. Cutting those supports off after curing causes micro spears bouncing around the room. Also check your contact depth into the model. Me, I only go .12 into the model.
Robert Clauff 2020-03-30 04:23:45
Gary Slovinsky ok. That being said I just finished my first print and the detail is amazing, however with the supports off there is still some post. What do you use for supports setting on yours? On my Tevo I would have good prints, but my supports would make it look like shit until I found out the right settings and now my prints are almost flawless. Looking to do the same with my resin prints. ?

Robert Clauff i use a contact depth of .12 and mostly med and small supports. BUT I don’t print minis or (at this point) extremely high detail. The most detailed item I’ve made was an agents of shield/hydra combined coin, a couple mm bigger than a quar ter. Printed vertical. But I still stand by ipa/mean green wash then warm to hot water for initial support removal then cure. But as you mentioned having the right settings is key. My settings wouldn’t help you, i print more simplistic designs which require less finessing than most other prints.
Gary Slovinsky 2020-03-30 04:53:41
Robert Clauff (addendum) I’m confused here. On your post to me was most of it related to FDM prints? I’m only asking since your last sentence says you were looking to do the same with resin prints? As a side note: I finished printing off the easy be d leveling adapter (photon) and i neglected to remove the supports first in hot water, I then cured it. And after removing thr supports was a nightmare and the thumb screws look like crap.
Robert Clauff 2020-03-30 09:38:46
Gary Slovinsky yes i was talking about my Tevo Tornado. I want to get my resin prints to the point where I hardly have to touch it after I cure it.
John Chrapkowski 2020-03-30 16:08:56
Wet sand with high grit for the last pass

I'm about to done a venom soon what settings did u use

John Sparkman 14 exposure 150 bottom

.03 layer
Michael Gorman 2020-03-28 11:35:28
John Sparkman settings are specific to your setup and resin. So unless you're using the same resin in the same temperature room you probably need to figure those out for yourself.
Robert Clauff 2020-03-28 11:51:51
John Sparkman he is not wrong. I found that out the hard way.
John Sparkman 2020-03-28 12:00:19
Michael Gorman photon s anycubic grey resin my setting are height 0.05 ..bottom layer count 3..exposure time 8s bottom exposure 40s I was just trying difrent setting and so on so far lately my prints turn out great

Have a question, so at what point do you guys add supports? Obviously I would prefer the least amount of post work on my resin prints.
Scott Pavlich 2020-03-27 02:47:17
When the print requires them. Best advice I can give you is watch some of Greg Kourakos videos...there’s no way to really say “when” you need supports other than to prevent islands and as the part reaches a point it needs them
Robert Clauff 2020-03-27 02:58:27
Scott Pavlich ok, because I just finished fantastic print but so many supports making it very ugly.
Scott Pavlich 2020-03-27 03:04:08
Robert Clauff It’s difficult for anyone to simply say “you need 20” or “every 5mm” or anything like that. Every print requires its own set per the configuration or the model, the angle it’s on, whether it’s hollow or not, what kind of cross sections it has, does it have arms that stick out, etc. But watch the videos and you’ll get the basics real quick If you run into questions on a particular print, then post a screenshot here and any number of people will help you out. Happy printing

Ok. I'm having a serious issue here. I printed my initial test print on the photonS however every other print I have attempted I can't get bed adhesion. I've looked at a lot of FAQs and have tried them all. Wtf is the issue. The last print had 10s exposure time, bed exposure at 100s, and several different models. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Relevel? What kind of resin and what does your supported STL look like?
Josh Tollison 2020-03-23 01:38:06
What all have you tried so far?
Juaco Amado 2020-03-23 01:48:13
Have you changed the FEP lately? It might be not tight enough
Robert Clauff 2020-03-23 01:55:02
When I level I get the paper so that it can't be barely moved. Is that too far perhaps?
Robin MacNeil 2020-03-23 04:00:59
Robert Clauff I used a video that really helped, which said, you should be able to pull it out with a bit of force, but if you try to push it back it bends. So yours sounds a tiny bit too tight.
Robert Clauff 2020-03-23 04:06:07
Robin MacNeil I'll give it another run at #5 and hopefully I get something.
Robin MacNeil 2020-03-23 04:07:59
Robert Clauff Check your resin against this chart to help find the best exposure too: https://www.google.ca/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j......
Daniel Green 2020-03-23 12:13:24
keep upping your bottom exposure. Mine were sticking until i went to something like 130 or 150

UPDATE: So here are some videos of the fail, cleanup, and re-level. I will post the settings shortly.
