Picked up a used photon and happily it turned out to be a Photon and not a Fauxton so it matches up with my other original photon perfectly. Printed this Baby Yoda (species) ring as a test print.

Siraya Fast Grey, .05 layers, 11 second layers, 6 base at 60.
Black primer, and gold rub and buff (knockoff) wiped on for fun.

An ignorant question: why are resin printers so slow? Given that the solidification of the layers occurs by exposure of the resin to flash of ultraviolet light, could these not be faster?

I know you can either

a) use supports, raft etc or

b) print flat on the plate, with no supports.

Can you print flat on the, but also add supports. As soon as I click on the 'support' icon to add them, the model is lifted 5mm (or whatever it is set to) off the plate....I suspect it is just a setting, but which one!

Hi all,

I’m looking for some suggestions please.

I’m printing railway coaches in 1:148 scale that need to have an open floor like the one on the right in the picture below.

I was told that this would be problematic for the printer as it would push the sides apart and essentially bulge outwards.

So to remedy this is added a lattice shown below. Now the problem is when removing this the resin is too brittle and cracks.

Does anyone have any suggestions or advice on how I should take this forward.

I have to print the coaches at a 40 degree angle across the bed to allow them to fit in the printer as they are 134 mm long
