The *openai_ros package* has been released on Wiki.ROS! http://wiki.ros.org/openai_ros
Introduction:
OpenAI provides a complete Reinforcement Learning set of libraries that allow to train software agents on tasks, so the agents can learn by themselves how to best do the task. Main type of agents are software agents, like this example where the OpenAI team trained an agent to play Dota 2.
One of the best tools of the OpenAI set of libraries is the Gym. The Gym allows to compare Reinforcement Learning algorithms by providing a common ground called the Environments.
Unfortunately, even if the Gym allows to train robots, does not provide environments to train ROS based robots using Gazebo simulations.
We have created the openai_ros package to provide the environments, so we all the ROS roboticists have a common ground where we can compare our best kung-fu when training robots. The package is open source and has lGPL license.
This is our contribution to the ROS ecosystem.

[Resources about Using OpenAI with ROS] -> Article | Using OpenAI with ROS http://www.theconstructsim.com/using-openai-ros/ OpenAI has released the Gym, a toolkit for developing and comparing reinforcement learning (RL) algorithms. That toolkit is a huge opportunity for speeding up the progress in the creation of better reinforcement algorithms, since it provides an easy way of comparing them, on the same conditions, independently of where the algorithm is executed.
The toolkit is mainly aimed at the creation of RL algorithms for a general abstract agent. Here, we are interested in applying it to the control of robots (of course!). Specifically, we are interested in ROS based robots. That is why, in this post we describe how to apply the OpenAI Gym to the control of a drone that runs with ROS.
