Anycubic Photon Printer Owners 造訪社團 » resolution

Has anybody printed a model under .05 mm with success? I have some tiny models that need to be printed and they failed at 05mm. I need to maybe print them at a finer resolution? The models in question are the size of dime and even smaller.

Hey again... my prints are getting better BUT...
Any suggestions for improving print settings? (Anycubic blue resin)
Issue #1 - Those raster lines are not acceptable for me.
Issue #2 - Why are close supports blended together? I wouldn't expect this from high resolution printer.
Generally I need much higher level of details.

I know about failed supports at the end of the body, need to add some.

Thank you for help again.

To be or not to be....... this is the question !

Some personal thoughts on the Photon and how to push it to the limits….

So I’m looking for a complete workflow with the goal to get the best dimensional accuracy using Photon for printing dental model.

So the main purpouse is “dimensional accuracy”

I decided to use dental resins that have a lower shrinkage if compared to generic resin. I'm testing Anycubic Dental Skin and another resin from an Italian Producer. The Z resolution chosed was 50 um, a good value for dental models.

First of all: Run Resin Exp Finder from Photonsters. This is the starting point.

It gives me a range of exposure time, min & max, and a sweet spot (even if I have some difficulty reading it..)

Once found the range of exposure, the next step is to perform other tests to validate and fine tune the exposure time.

I used for this porpouse the NestaCube file: it gives me two types of information, the first about fit (the smaller cube into the bigger): here I can modify exp time to have the best fit between the parts:

This test get us dimensional information too: i can measure the bigger cube dimensions to see if they correspond to the nominal;

And here I have the first doubt: is it more correct to adjust first the fit to have the best, and last measure the dimensions, and if needed act on scaling the model ?

Another solution could be first measure the dimensions and adjust time exposure to have correct dimensions, and then looking at the fitting and correct this if needed by an x-y dimensional compensation. The Go-NoGo Gauge test is my preferred tool for this.. (but we do not have horizontal compensation in Photon slicer and neither in ChiTuBox…. and voxelOps is a little complicated to install and use..)) ?

What is the PhotonMasters thought?

I see the Photon as my gateway drug into resin printing. Is there a printer on the market that is “better” in the 1-2k range?

Larger print area would be nice.
Faster
Easier maintenance
Direct printing from PC
Still supporting 3rd party resins is a must

Prusa: young and not much better?
Peopoly: laser = slower and less resolution?
Form: laser, expensive, proprietary resin

Wait until more larger things come out?

Dear photonsters , What resin do you prefer for :
1. Very high resolution prints
2. Castable prints
3. High strength printed objects that can be used functionally.

So I want to get a 3d printer with high resolution. Photon seems to be the most widely used. I also came across one called .HIEHA SQ3 3d printer on Amazon. I saw one positive review, then nothing else. What are your thoughts should I go with the photon or should I try a newish printer that has options for a 10" build plate?

SO, I just ran out of my Anycubic Black (That Demon King was worth it though), and I figured I would take advantage of Amazon's cheap prices and scoop up some resins.
What are everyone's go to Resins? I do mini's for D&D purposes, so a bit of flex is good, but resolution is primary.

Okay, so I tried my first real mini print after some calibration, and it came out super stretched. Or rather, I think the height is fine along the Z, but the X and Y look off. Did some digging and it seems like ChiTuBox didn't have the correct build volume to start, so I changed it to match that of Photon Slicer, 68.04 x 120.96 x 150.

That didn't really make sense to me, coming from the FDM side of things where that will just cause the outside edges to get cut off, but I guess if the pixel resolution of the LCD remains the same, it changes the DPI of the X/Y dimensions and that affects how the print comes out in those dimensions, ya?

What resolution do people generally print with for miniatures? 25 microns, 50 microns? Lower? Assume an opaque grey resin (e.g., Elegoo), with the model properly angled for some meaningful detail on the Z-Axis. I have noticed that even 50 microns shows up once primed. Is the only disadvantage an increase in time? Would also love to hear from some painters that are critical of their small details.

edit: So far, I've learned that I need to go to 10 micron increments for the motor. Thanks everyone who commented - now using 0.2 instead of 0.25!
