Still running on blind luck. Never calibrated, have a hole in the FEP. Changed resin mid print to a completely other type. Auto supports. Rather happy about my fire giant result. (Damn he's big had to wash him in a Ziploc bag, since my normal IPA canister was to small)

Hi everyone,
I get my Photon S few days ago and my first print (the cube test) and it ended up very well! Before getting my printer I watch all the topics about cleaning the vat and I saw very opposite opinions about it: using IPA or not, use microfiber...
So I modelised a mold to create a silicon spatula to clean as much resin as possible without scratching the fep. And it's working pretty nicely! All can be print on a FDM or resin printer.
I will put the files on Thingiverse if it interests few people.
EDIT : Here is the Thingiverse's link: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4115962
Have a good day and good prints! 翻譯年糕

Someone already tried use acetone instead of IPA for cleaning ? Or acetone will dissolve the resin ? ?

Hi. I have been printing with my new Photon S for about a week - new to everything so learning all at once, including cad. This is the size range that I am working in - ruler for scale - making stamps/molds to use with fine clays. I am able to print raised lines with no issue, but all of my small details that are negative/indented are lost. Cleaning is not an issue - while I can see a vague tracing of the lines that should be there, the resin in the recesses is cured. (IPA, scrubbing, ultrasonic cleaner). Included a screenshot of slicer - this was one of the longer exposure times I tried for green.

I am printing directly onto the plate - have tried different thicknesses, up to about 4mm. Indented areas are supposed to be 1-1.5mm deep. I have fiddled with the exposure times according to the suggestions here & on the spreadsheets. Switched from anycubic green to anycubic grey for a couple of days (hated the grey, had even less success, so switched back to green). I also like that I can see what is happening with the clay through the translucent resin.

Excuse the breakage - I have canned air on the way which I have seen is helpful for removal from plate. And if it matters, my test print was perfect, bed leveling has not been an issue thus far. Temp 18-21c.

Super frustrated seeing all the amazing prints here with fine detail & not being able to get a simple line! Thanks in advance for your helpful suggestions.

Hi Guys and gals

I got my Anycubic Proton S in the sale this week and printed the test file with almost no issues (I think a firmware update is needed as I had issues finding the test file)

I then tried to print some minis, and failed, ended up with cured resin on the FEP film which was a bummer but I understand it may be suction that caused that so still learning.

I've used IPA this morning to clean up from this disaster, and managed to get the exposed resin block off the film.

My question is, how clear/clean does that FEP film need to be because despite cleaning it gently it looks like it has marks, does it need to be mirror clean or or are small scratches and so forth normal - if it is scatched now shall I just replace it (that sounds like it might get expensive)

also should I be cleaning it with IPA at all - or if not what ? - should I use a soft cloth - but If I use a cloth how do I wash it ?

Hello! I've finally made my first ever print with my new Photon S (firmware v2.9.9). I'm really happy because it was a success! But... there's room for improvement! I've lost a lot of details and I'm not sure what to do.

Here's a picture of the model/settings and some pics of the print. What should I do to get better quality and more details? I've tought of reducing the exposure time.

I've used Elegoo gray resin. I don't know if that matters, but the print was left suspended in the printer 4 hours before cleaning in alcohol (IPA).

Thanks for your help!

Reminder from 1 new printer owner to others. DO NOT FLUSH RESIN IN THE SINK. After being diluted by water, it no longer has a high enough concentration to cure and will remain toxic. The plant based resin is also toxic to aquatic life according to a video I saw on YouTube. Just doing my part to keep our water supplies safe. Spread the word ladies and gents :) PS: IPA is extremely flammable. Treat its storage very cautiously.
