Anycubic Photon Printer Owners 造訪社團 » IPA

Got my photon just waiting for the resin (should have shipped together but oh well). While I am waiting I have a question other than space in a container is there a reason to take the print off the bed before ipa rinse? So if I made a custom rinse tank that would hold the bed suspended in the ipa with the print still attached so I could clean them together...? From what I can reason the ipa bath and an ultrasonic agitator should help the print releases from the bed with less effort and clean the bed at the same time.

So new to this fun hobby. I'm using the anycubic grey resin. But it is really brittle. After an IPA bath I'll clip the supports, which works well. I did a drop test on t a mini, on carpet, and it broke pretty easily. (After curing and sitting a couple days) what can be done to alleviate how easily broken it is/ what am I doing wrong?

Requesting some advice please. Photon S using 3d builder to fix any errors, resize and hollow and Chitubox to add supports followed by photon workshop (PW) to slice. Due to my machine i need to use PW to slice as a pws type file. My first thoughts were that i was adding supports in PW for all the failed prints. One of my issues with PW us that it doesnt refresh back to default slice settings (i.e. loads up slice settings from the previous print). This is making it hard to work off a reference point to tune the slice settings.

After printing the test cube and a small bust successfully, all of my prints are turning out to be pancakes on the bottom of the vat. side note, ive been carefully removing the pancakes by pressing lightly under the FEP at the edge of the print.

The first fail after the successful bust was the deadpool keychains, angled and supported. Settings as per the pic.

The next 2 or 3 failed prints was a lithopane, i must not have saved the stl just before slicing. This is where i started tweaking exposure times, bottom layer and layer thickness. Refer to the pic without the stl.

Following that i tried to print a resin funnel. I opened up the test cube to check its settings because i know that thing prints. Copied the settings and bam, another failed print.

So, last night i relevelled using the flint read method and gave the printer a clean with IPA. Went back to square one and printed the test cube. it was printing so i cancelled and loaded up the funnel again (which was raised about 5mm from the supports). The funnel failed but instead of a pancake, it had about 5mm of supports and what looks like the first 10 or so layers (will add a pic of failed print and pws settings when i get home from work).

Just before leaving for work, i went back to the bust that worked (which i must have sliced to the usb instead of to the project folder) and started printing that again to see if i can actually print anything at the moment.

Has anyone else had a similar experience with the Photon S, and what worked for you?

Extremely noob question coming up: how long can prints sit in the printer before IPA and how long after IPA and before being taken for some sunbathing? Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the add!
First pic is to show difference between a test print with Maroon* vs Grey Anycubic resin, all out-of-the-box defaults sliced with Anycubic Slicer. Another try with the Maroon (separate Roblox duck model, again all defaults, positioned with duck feet flat on the print bed) gave me a little round disc stuck to the FEP where the main body should have been, but some scaffolding for an island support turned out okay.
So after some patient prying in a bath of IPA I dislodged the resin from the FEP and trying another print now w/ Maroon completely on supports and sliced via Chitubox to hollow and autosupport (screenshot, 2nd pic). I also checked the incredible community spreadsheet and adjusted the settings to be closer to what other folks have listed for Anycubic Maroon at 0.05.
It's cooking right now so will see what's stuck to the build plate in an hour or so when I can see it over the lip of the vat. But I might give up on this Maroon. The Grey is 2 for 2, the test print and a technical little washer/adapter piece turned out great.
* came with the Photon, and by "came with" I mean showed up 3 weeks later with no advance notice of the tracking #. The grey was purchased from Amazon while waiting. 翻譯年糕

Quick question ☺️

If a print just finished and I want to put another one:

Should I clean the bed with IPA and start the print with the resin that is there?

Can I print without passing IPA on the bed?

Or do I have to clean both bed and FEP?

Thanks!

Looking for your suggestions on draining hollowed prints. Since I’m doing human figures, I print the head separately and the drain hole is an 1/8” drill hole at the neck.

The issue I’m having is, that after soaking them in IPA, they continually drain.

These figures are for a game that utilizes the figures but they have weight limits, so the lighter the better, otherwise is just cure them and be done with it.

Thanks in advance.
