Having issues with the printer recently. I printed a small model on the very right corner of the build plate and started having a thin layer of cured resin (round) 1 1/2 in. diamater at the center of my FEP.

Is this an LCD issue or the UV light?

Hey guys, I’ve *just* opened my Photon, and when I got to install step 3 it asked me to make sure the lcd screen is clear of dust. To my surprise it was shock full of dust and using a standard soft glasses wipe wouldn’t clean it. Some of those seem like scratches tbh. Should I panic, try some cleaner (IPA?) or just ignore and move on?

Edit: Problem solved, the dust was on the other side of the FEP. After following the hint below and removing the tank it was obvious. Phew :)

have been experimenting with my photon and looking at the issues in prints that look like lines are in them - which is often attributed to z-wobble and model alignment.

I had been using .05mm layer thickness for some prints and was getting lines.

Then I read that the stepping of the device is in .02mm

I tried .02mm and .06mm and no lines.

currently using the following settings with the white resin and i am getting great prints every time now.

White - Anycubic POT015 LCD Uv 405 nm Rapid Resin for 3D PRINTER-500Mll/ 500G-White
layer 0.02
Normal Exposure 12
Off time 6.5
Bottom exposure 115
bottom layers 8
heavy supports with contact depth at 0.35
30% support density

Any ideas gang? Second replacement lcd. Mine half and half died. One I got in was doa. This is a brand new one from the dealer. Getting a bit tired of taking this thing apart.

My Photon S arrived today.....vat retainer loose in box, screws rattling around in case and two nice big nicks on the LCD screen. Anycubic out of office until Monday. Was thinking about preemptively buying a LCD replacement. Should I look for a specific one?

Hive mind. Quick question and your thoughts please.

I'm thinking about buying thinner FEP. My idea is to put down a sheet to act as a protective barrier between the vat and the screen - I would probably form it around the vat (as a bowl) to help minimise the risk of a spill damaging the LCD and to prevent resin from leaking into the machine itself in the event of puncture or other FEP damage.

I would probably then replace the FEP on my vat with the thinner FEP to counter the additional material thickness and potential exposure issues the FEP bowl/barrier might create.

Am I over thinking it?

Hello all, thanks for the add!

I'm considering buying the Photon soon but had a quick question to which I couldn't really find a clear answer despite lots of googling and reditting;

I know there's plenty of resin types for "proper" SLAs, but how does DLP/LCD specific resins compare? I'm mostly asking because I noticed most prints seems to gravitate toward minis and such, and not so much towards mechanical/articulated parts.

Are those resins generally too brittle to be of any decent use beside minis and such? Would mixing them with Monocure Flexi (or similar if any) resin would render more viable for this kind of uses?
