This is my first LCD-shadow-masking ultraviolet stereo lithography printer - or any resin printer.

Amazon dropped it off at 3:15pm today and it was freezing cold from being outside, so I could not use it right away. We had a dozen people coming to the house for dinner, so I was cleaning and making dessert and could not give it much attention. I still managed to unbox it, let it warm up to ambient temp for about an hour, update the firmware, level the print bed, figure out how to use it, and start it printing. My first print was done at 6:29pm - just over three hours from delivery.

This is a 47x47x50 micron voxel print - not even the highest quality setting. Amazing.

So resin somehow got in between the film and lcd before a print and now theres a good layer cured onto the lcd. how would one recomend getting that off

Another new LCD on order. Hopefully my last new one was a dud and the cause of my on going print troubles.
There are plenty of LCD from China at 2/3 the cost of the FEPshop. Cheap for a reason maybe?

new member with a Problem (thanks in advanced). picked up a photon and unpacked and all good but problems quickly arise. when powerd on the control LCD lights up and is responsive, however the stepper wont budge. tryed to move it (in controls) and nothing..no sound nothing. also..no fans turn on. i noticed 2 fans on the unit. one inside and one underneath..neither are moving. i also tried the exposure feature and the inner LCD failed to light in any way. its like the entire unit has no power except for the LCD. i tryed to update the firm ware (both versions) from the site but no results...any ideas guys?

After some successful prints, today I faced the following behavior:
Around 50-60% of the printing job, the system started to behave erratically. printing the spots/pixels of the layers randomly across the both screens.
In the video, we can note also that on the front LCD, the screen layout who shows the layers is shifted to the left
After the first failure, I removed the remain resin, clean everything and started again with the same file. The result was the same. A complete mess.
The file was sliced with ChituBox 1.2.0, and in the File Validator i cannot see any problem in the file.
The slice settings were: 0.05mm, 11seg exposure.
The firmware is the "VersioV4.2.1_LCD.0/1440x2560 /F2.5"

As a debug, sliced the same project with exposure as 1sec for every layer, and ran the file without resin as a test. This time, worked.
Could be anything with the sliced file? firmware?...

So, I’ve purchased my second photon. The first one I got was flawless. Already well set up, I leveled the build plate, set the Z=0 home position, checked the LCD to verify that it worked fine, updated the firmware, and that printer has been running well ever since.

This 2nd printer, I received today. I performed incoming inspection before admitting it into my lab to sit down the bench from a FDM printer and across the way from a 5-axis mill.

This new printer wouldn’t accept a new home position no matter what I did... until I pulled it apart and realized that the Z carriage was originally installed upside-down, this forces the metal blade used for homing further down (or holding the Z carriage higher than required). I flipped it over and after adjusting the little set screw positioned the blade perfectly. Assembled the printer and all is well.

In this rambling, the take-away is that the QC card is worth less than you might think & that mechanics can be fixed or adjusted as needed.

Okay, day 3, 1 successful print and went to turn it on and the LCD comes on (with sounds, touches, and all) but the controls don't do anything. Fans don't come on, motors won't turn, and LCD won't test.

In lieu of returning it to Amazon, any suggestions for troubleshooting the power to the control board? I see there is some sort of power module in there, but don't want to start tearing it apart if there is a common issue that can be sorted more easily.
