Hey guys, I ran out of Elegoo Clear which was working perfectly for me and unfortunately amazon.ca didn’t have any more so I ordered the Elegoo Yellow instead. Did the resin exposure test and came up with 14s and did a print... it was a mess. It failed pretty majorly and there were flakes of hardened resin attached to random parts of it. Cleaned it all up and found large sheets and clumps of hardened resin on the bottom of the vat in the area of the print. I tried again overnight... same thing. Checked the UV test on the printer, everything seems fine there. Based on the fact that it was working perfectly before I changed resin, I suspect the resin, though I also changed the FEP at the same time so that is also under mild suspicion, but I did make sure to take off the protective sheets from BOTH sides of the fresh FEP this time so it’s not a repeat of that problem. Anyone know what the date on the Elegoo resin means? It says 2019/08/12 so if that’s the expiry date they gave me expired resin. I forgot to take pictures until I was half through cleaning it up. I had already removed the biggest piece of hardened resin from the bottom and put it in alcohol but I put it back for the photo.

EDIT: I checked the screen with my flashlight after removing the tank and it seemed a bit cloudy. Would that be enough to cause this or is it more likely bad resin?

Sup everyone. I have two questions regarding cleanup. How long can the resin sit in the VAT after a print? If its sits too long does it make it harder to clean up? I'm assuming yes but want to make sure. Bleach can be used to clean containers and tools afterward right? Not the actual print, just the tools. I don't see why it would be a problem but haven't seen any videos on anyone using that and it's much cheaper than Iso alcohol

Thanks for the add... just ordered my printer and bottle of their new plant based uv resin... been watching lots of videos so pulled the trigger on this.. So from what I've watched so far I'll need to buy or build a simple uv curing setup? So without posting links, I found a "Curing Light Solar Powered Rotary Display Stand Turntable Kit for SLA DLP 3D Printer " for $33 . I assume this would fit the bill, or simply set outside, but I wouldn't want them to get dirty etc.. So what else besides rubbing alcohol will I be needing to purchase? What consumables? (besides gloves etc) . I found a good shared google doc listing many resin types and multiple settings people suggest, im sure that will be useful, I'm confused with all the resins though any why some wont work etc.. and what happens if the setting simply is not right? Does the unit have built in settings for various resins perhaps? I'd like a tough resign to make things like keychains, and things that might be outdoors in the elements.. can anyone suggest some and why? I saw formlabs I believe it was tough resin but it was like $145 If my memory serves me... isn't there others that are durable... Don't want just a toy with things that break easy... After curing etc, how many of you paint your items, any specifics on types of paints to use?

I've bought violet LEDs instead of ultra violet by mistake... Well, they are still usable to cure resin disolved in alcohol. Green solution turned milky yellow. ?

I want to make some changes here st home.. looking for some inspiration on a workspace for the printer and post processing of the parts..

Ideas, pictures, links to must-have products like silicone mats, preferably from ali, would be awesome..
Currently i only have my desk where my pc is at, but its not sustainable...

I already have a nail curer, ultrasonic cleaner, microfiber clothes, gloves, filters, alcohol wipes, fine diamond tool files..

What is good to have ? :-)

OK fellow crazy's so got a little bored and the one thing i keep seeing and hearing is people talk about is the smell of resins. So conducting a few exsperments with Extracts and I haven't really seen anybody do or try this and I have this dream of printing out a fruit bowl full of different fruits that you can pic up and smell as if it where real fruit ? , Test one was a success and the part dose have a faint sent of vanilla.
Some facks on this first exsperment are :
1, I only had vanilla in the house to test lol but gonna try other ones like strawberry, banana, mango and so on.
2, Ingredients in this bottle are vanilla bean extract, water and alcohol.
3, Boiled for a few seconds to cook off the water and was left with a concentrate that mixed exstreamly well with the resin ( anycubic gray ) a small amount was added to the resin and left for 4hrs to see if any separation.
4, Yes it did change the color of the anycubic gray resin
5, commenced printing of something flat just to see if any issues with the print.

Out come is it did print and does have a faint smell of vanilla ? Will continue testing when i get the chance and i really dont know why companies making resins haven't already done this ?

Out of curiosity share:
1)how long you have owned your printer
2) approximately how much resin you have used
3) how much IPA/denatured/house hold detergent you have used.

I'll start
1) 8 months
2)16L (all Anycubic, every colour)
3) 2L isopropyl 99% and 4L of denatured alcohol (works substantially better for same price)

Just wanted to see how long and how much everyone has printed and also seeing how long people stretch there baths before tossing out. I feel a lot of you change it way to often for no reason.

What causes melting effects like this? .04 at 8 sec, elegoo grey. Sun curing. Didnt look like this when it went out to cure. Lots of other models in the same batch turned out fine.

This is the worst I've ever seen it, but on occasion a seam will "fill in" during curing this way. Is it just pools of resin that didnt get cleaned off? I scrubbed pretty vigorously. Not clearing out my alcohol bucket often enough? Something else I'm missing?
