Is there any interesting resin for making miniatures besides the phrozen abs like gray?

Hello everyone.

I could use some help.

One of my first print (left one) was really wonderful with a lot of details.

But this week i've tried to print another model (right one) and details look absolutely not as clear as the first tank. I've tried it 3 times and even with longer exposure it still looks a bit melted.

It's grey anycubic resin on photon S with a lot of support from chitubox. Last test was 8 base layers, 115 sec. 18 sec for normal exposure. (i've also tried in 15 sec & 12 & it's the same).

My bed is leveled, my FEP is quite new.

Any help would be appreciated ? . Thanks a lot!

Having some fun in Photoshop with my print that finished this morning. Character art is from Artisan Guild. Printed with HERO Clear and the head is printed in HERO Black. Printed on the Anycubic Photon. 15 second normal exposure, 70 second bottom exposure. Cleaned in HERO WASH then cured for 10 minutes in the Formlabs cure machine at 35 degrees Celsius.

Question about curing... I ordered this elegoo resin. Does it feel rubbery when cured? I first ordered the standard green photon resin which cured in ~30min in my UV bucket. It felt as solid as/shattered like glass. I’ve cured my first print now with the elegoo for 2 hours and it’s still not as solid feeling. Very bendy and I’m concerned to touch it. Maybe my curing bucket isn’t strong enough for this resin?

AmeraLabs Resin

Is it worth to spent a big amount for little resin bottles ?

Fast printing sounds nice but not that important for someone who will print just once a day

very interesting !

still experimental, and got it flaws, but a step forward.
when will we see a compatible resin for photon? :)

Edit: Updated to 4.2.18 and now the entire screen is just flashing lines.

Orogonal.post: Is a flickering screen (some of the time), caused by Firmware or LCD? :(

Original Photon is having intermittent issues.
I see no dead pixels on a screen test.

Seems to be the actual machine just decides whether it desires to print something properly or not.
Tried multiple memory sticks, old and new files.

Turn on. Pick print:

Print either strobes horrendously, or is absolutely fine.

Stopping any file and starting another means it may just refuse to understand the next file and stall at 0% without loading the STL

Printing a file perfectly, it's a lucky dip as to the next one works or not.

As one of my last prints on the Anycubic Photon Classic I had to push the limits for the printer and the Harzlabs resin.

0,6mm thick try-in before laser sintering the CAD:ed core for this 12 unit TISP.

# Harzlabs Dental Sand A3 (50um, 11s per layer).

Amazing!

I wanted to share a mistake I made when replacing my FEP film.

I replaced my FEP film several days ago and since then I have had absolutely zero luck getting prints to stick to the build plate. I tried releveling many many times with different tensions on the paper from unmoveable to only slight resistance and everywhere in between.

I loosened my FEP sheet, and tightened it. I tried from 300 - 400 hz of tightness.

Nothing seemed to be working for me.

So I decided to take a very close look at what I done when replacing the FEP sheet since the printer was working very well before the replacement.

After cleaning everything thoroughly I began by inspecting the bottom of the vat. Here I noticed the critical flaw in my work. The FEP had indeed been stretched to the correct tension however I did not have enough initial slack in the FEP to allow the bracket to fully seat down into the vat walls. The bracket formed a lip around the bottom of the vat as it sat slightly lower than the bottom of the vat.

What I think was happening is that normally the FEP would be stretched around the bottom of the vat in such a way as to be the lowest point on the vat with it sitting underneath the inner var walls. So you would have screen -> FEP -> Vat stacked on each other with no room between them.

However in my configuration it was screen -> air gap ->FEP -> vat. So I postulate that the small gap allowed the FEP to be pushed down by the plate during printing and introduce enough Z movement into the system that there was too much space between the plate and the FEP sheet.

I then over tightened the FEP to the point that the bracket was seated properly but the FEP was now way too tight registering roughly 620 hz. Now prints reliably stick to the build plate but I expect I will have other issues with prints. I have a new pack of FEP arriving today and will do the swap properly this time giving myself plenty of slack to work with.

Just wanted to share an interesting thing that happened to me in case anyone else runs into the same issue.

Thanks.

Suggestions please....

... After the firmware update (two files for version something-somethig-18) I'm still getting these weird layer lines. Could this be under/overexposure, temperature related, or is this the infamous "z wobble" problem? I've only been printing for a few weeks with the photon (but many years on a Fromlabs at work) and I was getting perfect results before now on the Photon (high deff minis and props).

Please help, I think I'm loosing my marbles?

P.s this has happened on three prints now all with different orientations and models so as far as I can see it's not my supports.
