Not trolling. Genuine question.

I don't care about "winning an argument" and I ABSOLUTELY don't want people to be scared of these machines. They're fun and any piece of equipment is completely safe so long as you know what you're doing. But I would just like to get some concrete facts if possible for my own piece of mind and to put our hobby into proper perspective.

As a consumer it's been very difficult to scrounge up definitive facts about the health effects of resin. Almost every scientific study must caveat it'self with "May lead to" "Has shown signs of" or "X, is not yet fully understood". That's just the nature of studies. They can't deal in absolutes of "Yes" or "No".

I am interested to know what the main difference is between traditional resins such as fiberglass resin, urethane resin, and other casting resins. Because I know for a fact that many of them DO emit hazardous fumes. They say so on the can and advise you to wear a respirator and eye protection because of it. Many people are saying respiratory protection is unnecessary with printer resins. I realize the UV resins are not the same but for the sake of knowledge I'd like to know in what ways.What is the actual science behind it? What are the biological effects if any? You have the floor if you know the answer and it would put an end to all this petty back and forth. How are those other resin fumes hazardous and most 3d printer resins not?

Speaking only from my own experience, I print in a non-ventilated garage (yes I'm working on that don't worry) and many times have noticed that my throat is irritated if I stay in there too long with the resin printer running. As a result I have to open up the garage and circulate the air pretty frequently. And no it's not "mold in the garage" because I've observed this in my last place too.

Just for the heck of it I saw my doctor who referred me to a toxicologist. I explained all about the resin and showed them what I use. The toxicologist didn't seem to have any clue what to tell me. Just sorta sent me off with a "Yea there's not much data out there."
So yes I went to an actual doctor. The only doctor anyone could think to recommend and they had no idea. So any rational person upon seeing that nobody has solid answers would just err on the side of caution. Especially when it takes almost no effort or money to do so.

I purchased one of those stupidly expensive twin-rail upgrade kits for my OG Photon, since I'm tired of having large scale prints marred by Z-wobble (which sometimes happens even with optimal orientation). I'm going to try installing it tonight, once I'm finished with the current print job. Wish me luck...

Do clear/ translucent resins yield less detail than opaque colored ones? I'm using Nova3d clear green and have hollowed out my Yoda model and used a 0.2 mm shell thickness. The detail isnt excellent like I'd expect at 0.025 resolution.

Thank you for accepting me into a group and next and now the first problem :-)

The new Photon installed this week, the new USB flash, UV display test does not show error, Anycubic green from the shipment. The first test print "cube" minor errors. Further printing interrupted printing of layers, the Z axis works without a problem. Now with OK calibration, the UV display no longer works - but OK /UV display test / is still displayed. I checked the UV display connection and it seems OK.

Control printing "cube" printed from USB flash manufacturer, other USB flash are new - it does not run from one USB flash - neither the original or new.

Where can there be a mistake?

Buen día amigos e impreso estas piezas directo en el plato pero cuando le hago el curado se me deforman alguien podría saber a que se debe esto. O es que le falta tiempo de exposición, yo le e dado con 9 segundos y 60 segundos para las primeras capas.

Okay... firmware upgraded to v5.0.2, so my printer should now be able to digest .pws, .photon and .photons files. At the moment running a quick test print of the Ameralabs Town, sliced to .pws with PhotonWorkshop v2.1.20 using the same settings as the presliced Photon Cube from Anycubic used. Should be done in about an hour...

Now... I've read a lot about the workflow for slicing files. Some people add supports with Chitubox, export as .stl and slice that with PhotonWorkshop. Others are fine with Doing all with just Chitubox after the last update. Some add PrusaSlicer in the mix...

Now... considering my level of foolishnes (don't underestimate it... ;-) ) what is the most foolproof workflow. I appreciate opinions...

Hi im a new photon s owner. Ive been printing for years with fdm printers but this is my first sla printer. Ive been trying for days to amke a sucessfull print with no luck. The best i can get is a small layer fused to the bottom of the vat nothing sticks to the build plate. i have tried adjusting the exposure. I leveled and releveled the bed. I changed the plastic at the bottom of the vat because some have said that the plastic that comes preinstalled can cause issues. I even removed the built plate and the vat and fired up a print to see if the dlp is lighting up and it is though it dosnt seem to bright. im not sure how bright it should be. my last attempt was to try the flint read method of leveling and im noticing when i have the vat installed and i try and bring the bed down just till the wobble in the plate is goes with the set screw loose it reaches the bottom possible z and starts to grind and the build plate still had room to wobble. do you guys have anymore suggestions or is it time to rma the printer?

So I tried printing this part at an angle with supports rather than flat to the plate, and I ended up with a lovely forest of heavy supports on the build plate, and some avant garde modern art on the FEP. Did I need more supports? Where did I go wrong? Could it be that the raft is partially off the printable area? I assumed that wouldn't make a difference. Specs: OG Photon with Anycubic Black and 50% Siraya Tenacious. 0.05mm layers at 12sec exposure, with 8 base layers and 90 sec bottom exposure. Lifting speed 65mm/min, 5mm lifting distance.
