Sanity check: I took some advice and started using ChiTuBox (I like it) and have been saving often (which was the actual piece of advice). However, when I close the app and re-open a saved file, it does not seem to differentiate between the model and the supports (so I can't adjust the supports)

Is this what I should expect from these slicing tools, or am I missing something really obvious?

Has anybody found a source of replacement fans for the Photon? Mine is now getting very noisy and I'd like to replace it. (Removing it is not an option due to my extraction system)

All the best,
Luke

Hey again! I have been printing full size stormtrooper helmets at 1/12 scale to fit into my black series figures, it's worked great except for one thing, they are paper thin. Is there any way to fill a model a unhollow lol

After having some leveling issues with the test print, my first real print is done and looks great (at least compared to my old FDM attempts at printing minis).

I did the supports manually thanks to the great videos by 3DPrintingPro. Pretty sure I overdid it with the supports but wanted to be sure it’s print.

Any suggestions from the most experienced folks? Anything my beginners eye might be missing?

Just opened, mounted and printed. Didn’t change a thing on chitubox. Auto supports. I will make the exposure test, I think I have to low down for more details.

Hey there! New to the group and 3D printing. I bought myself a Photon printer for my birthday last week and am having a blast! These, along with the normal test cube, are some of my better test prints. Right now I'm working on

- The right times to use Chitubox versus the Photon slicing software (I'm finding that the answer is both)

- Hollow versus solid figures (the ones pictured are my first solid ones)

- Exposure time (the previous Baby Yoda was lost to the resin vat void due to short exposure time, I think)

- Teaching myself 3D modeling in Blender. I draw and do web design/dev, so the 3D modeling realm is pretty intimidating.

I'm stoked to do more and meet some more experienced people! (links to files are in the comments)

Chitubox has all of a sudden stopped working?
Running the latest version, adding autosupports in prusa then exporting to chitu and this has been working fine for the past week no problems, but all of a sudden everything I open in chitu causes it to crash? I have uninstalled, reinstalled and I have trimmed my memory down?
I have also tried to reopen stl it sliced fine before and still crashes?
Why's it's playing up all if a sudden?

Hey All,

Something in a previous comment thread triggered me to finally write-up an issue I've been giving a lot of thought to over the past 18 months of resin printing. At the moment I've done it as the shittiest infographic slide show imaginable, but I think I'm getting across one aspect of 'overexposure' that doesn't get touched on too much, the ugly underbelly of resin prints (literally).

It's also hopefully a bit of an explanation of why most print-in-place mechanisms fail on the Photon, since the excess cure can easily bridge in small gaps.

This is meant to be a discussion piece, some of my thoughts on resin physics/chemistry, and a bit of a demistification. Happy to take comments, but please keep it evidence-based.... ;)

EDIT: The white background was killing me, so I had to at-least fix that. I've also expanded the last couple slides with a shade more detail. Enjoy!

Hi guys, just a quick question I hope.
With the transparent resins, is it important to have the light off time set higher, I'm getting some places on a mini print that looks like excess trapped resin is being cured, especially in eye sockets and against supports etc, general detail on the model comes out well. I had previously printed the same mini in white without the eye issue. Any help would be great
Btw using monocure rapid green + rapid flex
