I've been having success printing supportless minis str8 on the build plate. But when I print a custom base directly on the build plate the model ends up looking squished. Then I've noticed that the bases on the supportless models I've been printing are thicker. Also the supportless model's bases have a ring around the base like an elephant's foot. This leads me to the following conclusion, and please correct me if I'm wrong:

Could it be that I'm getting that squished look due to my build plate being too low and that I need to relevel it slightly?

The pics of the bases:
Left is with supports at an angle, right is directly on buildplate.

The supports are done with a 20 to 30 degree angle. And the tip closest to the plate always looks wonky around the edge.

Got lucky and grabbed a Photon printer and accessory package on an Amazon Lighting Deal yesterday - just wanted to thank everyone here in advance for the helpful tips and info I've already seen in the group. It's due to arrive tomorrow and I can't wait to learn how to create with it!

This model fails to print repeatedly...first it only printed the supports, second time it did not stuck to the build plate at all. Tried to print another model that was printed succesfully before, and it seems to be printing normally, so it should not be the printer's fault.

Printing with Anycubic Black.

Any hints, tips or tricks? I'm getting a bit frustrated over this issue.

All.. I just wanted to post my appreciation for the team at AnyCubic Support!!... my Z Axis is dead and it seems the motherboard is faulty. The support guys have responded with multiple emails and diagnostic tools to help understand whats going on... and it seems that i'm even eligible for a warranty replacement which they're going to help me apply for. All in all, they've been fantastic. FYI

Oh no! ? Apparently I destroyed my poor little photon. I hit up on the Z and it hit max for a few seconds before I could cancel it. That’s all she wrote. Now it won’t move up or down at all on its own. Anyone got tips for replacements?

Update: So the stepper doesn’t even attempt to move. No click or whir or anything. The screw still moves freely by hand but that’s it. The screen and software all seem fine. Do you think my board went or my stepper? ? Any videos or forums on how to would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Update: so I ran a print without the head or tub and it looks like the screen isn’t lighting any more either. I’m leaning towards a smoked board. I’m so ready break down. Three seconds and the things is smoked!? Damn the luck.

Update: IT LIVES! Resetting the eeproms brought it back to life. Everything seems to be working fine. ?? Github has an excellent article on everything Photon including the process for resetting eeproms. Thank you all for helping.

Z Wobble. I've just discovered that I have it. 2 days ago I printed by first model with flat sides and it was very obvious. I followed the manufacturers video and it had nearly no effect. The slider was already very tight. That's when I discovered a few problems all related to poor quality control.
1. The bearings in the slider are of such poor quality that it stutters significantly when it moves.
2. The lead screw or the stepper motor makes a click sound and a slight bump movement can be detected with each revolution.
3. The threads on the lead screw are very rough and the nut can't smoothly travel the full length under pressure.

After seeing that tightening the slider didn't help I decided to smooth out the lead screw. I first used the tip of a pin file to find a really rough and out of round section near the bottom of the screw. I filed the root and edge of the crest of the threads with a pin file and then finished it out with progressive grits of sandpaper from 400 to 2000. The Z Wobble has been significantly reduced as the picture shows, but that clicking is still there. My next step is to remove the motor assembly and see if there's some defect that's causing it to contact the frame as it spins. The click gets more severe if you pull the lead screw towards the front and disappears if you push it to the back.

I designed this Z Wobble test after seeing a couple others. It's curious that it causes a string of bubbles in exactly the same spot.

Ugh... Soldering is HARD!
I thought I would build a bread box UV-cure station as per Testeds video, but I'm starting to feel I will butcher the components before I get a hang of this soldering business.

This looks like crap, right? ?
Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Ok, I could use some help here...
Tried to print this thing flat on the build plate and at some point the structure simply ruptured along a layer line.

0,02 layer thickness, 7 sec exposure time, Monocure black resin

The piece is hollow (2mm thick walls), there are holes in the piece (one close to the bottom plate) and it is full of supports.

I do have 2 explanation attempts:
- It ruptured pretty much at the point where I paused the print for a few seconds to check the progress (another earlier attempt had also failed but with different settings)
- There is no hole in the neck area, which probably led to a a vacuum in there during the last quarter of the print which could have created the pull on the model.

Any further tipps?

Does anyone else have constant issues with Anycubic grey resin not printing properly? I have not had the issue with any other resin than the AC grey.... failed prints all the time or half failed prints, switch up to elegoo grey or ac clear green and no issues at all!

Also for sphere connection tips (in chitubox 1.4) what settings are people using for them? I did a full bed print of 5 models yesterday and got one successful print, the rest were all half printed or with loads of flat bits (pretty sure there were enough supports, only difference between this and my normal settings was swapping to sphere tips).

Thanks in advance for any help!
