Anyone checking the accuracy of their prints?
I'm using bluecast x10 with fep 127HD, tried different exposure settings. Currently using 50um at 14 exposure time.

From 3d file.
Z axis is about 95% smaller
X axis is about 120% larger
Y axis is 100% accurate.
I print small boxes at a time while calibrating and I can't figure out how to fix this.

Z-Axis Mod - Is anyone in the UK interested?

I’m working on a cheap z-axis mod with as few parts as possible and with as little work as possible. I am not a business or a professional tradesman (I am an Army Engineer and am good at solving problems with little resources and blowing up stuff).

I reckon that the mod will cost about £10 in materials + the cost of the MGN9 carriages and rails (iv just got a used set for £25 off eBay).

2 x MGN9H Carriages
2 x MGN9 rails 225mm long
30 x M3 Hex Bolts 6 or 8mm
4 x M3 washers (0.5mm thick).
1 x Aluminium Channel 3” x 1.5” x 3/16” (55mm long)

You could go ahead and do this yourself but I cannot find a supplier of the aluminium that supplies it in small amounts, making it a bit more expensive than I’d like, so I will end up buying enough aluminium channel for over 10 mods.

This is untested but if I go ahead and get the aluminium channel and if after testing it works, would anyone in the UK want some of the channel? I could cut it to length for you.

You will need to get everything else and drill accurate perpendicular holes in your current z-axis and in the piece of aluminium channel (a pillar drill is highly recommended). In total 34 holes and make 2 cuts on the aluminium (I could make these cuts for you).

I don’t have time to sell this as a packaged mod (if successful) but I can sell a sell a few pieces of the channel. Is anyone interested at this stage? No commitment.

After doing some experiments over on resin, i received the below mentioned results.

But, the value not same from top to the bottom. Minimum of 0.1mm taper difference occurs. I conducted a test in 2 different exposure timings.
1. Size of the model not changed, the exposure time is 7secs, offtime 6.5secs, base exposure time is 28secs.

Value i got is +0.12mm from the required value in xy direction and -0.15mm from required in z direction. Taper is 0.02mm from top to bottom.

2. Size scaled for to compensate, exposure time 7 sec, off time 5 sec, base exposure time is 40sec.

Value i got is from -0.04mm at the bottom to +0.04mm at the top from required values.

This because of what?
Till now i am not able to calibrate the black resin for accurate components. Because the components has 0.02mm tolerance.

I’ve finished my z axis reinforcement mod. I was getting fed up with the z axis leaning backwards and forwards and not being perpendicular to the screen. Quite a few of my prints have a lot of surface area which means that it takes quite a bit of force to peel, thus, the axis kept leaning.

The ‘lean’ is now adjustable and I have set it to be accurately perpendicular to the screen. The axis is also more ridged and the runner won’t flex, however, the Anycubic runner and carriage is still not great.

I’m still not a fan of the runner system so I’m going to work on a cheap rail upgrade that doesn’t need any special tools to make it.

Finally getting results that I would call good. The undersides i.e. sides that are attached to supports still look quite rough but a bit of sanding seems to remedy that. I would like to get better surface finish straight off the printer as I do engineering components and sanding can affect dimensional accuracy. But as I say, so far so good. Right now the sanded areas have a whitish texture when they dry. I will probably just rub some silicon oil on the part to achieve a good finish.

Is the Formware 3D slicer software worth the the cost? Is it the same difference as comparing simplify3D to Cura for Fdm printers? The features seem like they would be very handy to have in one application instead of having 3 or 4 open...

ok last question... for now...
How accurate is the support generator on the anycubic slicer? I am slicing an Alien but it seems to be a LOT of supports. I am showing without, with light, then medium supports. Which should I go with for this? Is the auto generation something I can trust?

(this is what I was printing earlier but turned into a solid block due to the LCD not working right)

Hey everyone. I've got my Photon partially taken apart to install a heater to print Siraya Blu resin. While apart I noticed that the Z rail is tilted forward relative to the LCD screen. I assume I'm going to need to fix that if I want dimensionally accurate prints? Thanks for any input.

Hello chaps! I've been using the great little Photon File Validator program mainly to check for any catastrophic fails and for a more accurate print time / usage. Does anyone ever use the 'Fix' option? Is it reliable?

Need serious help with scaling. Zbrush is just an inaccurate cluster **** to export correct scales so I tried scanning in meshmixer and it seems just as bad. For example I have a model that is cut up and I would like top be 13 inches tall; tmu 13inches = 355.6 mm yet with that value every piece is yuge when in photins slicer.
