Had a go with the anycubic black resin and knocked up a replacement gun for my M.A.S.K Gator on tinkercad :)

I need a slicer program that will work with my laptop or a cloud slicing program. I've tried Anycubic slicer and Chitu slicer and neither of them will load files. I've tried Chitubox and it works but it won't let me add custom supports, I would try the open source slicer but Meshmixer won't even start on my laptop. This laptop is Win10 i7, 8gigs of ram 256gig SSD and I run Cura, Repetier, Slic3r, Blender, S3d, Tinkercad(cloudbased) tons of other memory hog software like Photoshop and Premiere and it never lets me down until I started resin printing!

So I am looking at buying an Anycubic photon to expand my scale modelling ability by making my own parts, what is there to consider when thinking about getting one?

Edit: I have done some research into programs like Tinkercad, and also looked at pla and other types of 3d printing but resin seems to be the way to go in terms of detail that can be achieved.

Hi people, can anybody offer some advice on resin please?

I have designed in Tinkercad a gear diff for my RC touring car. I've printed it if the kit supplied resin and it's turned out very well, however the green kit resin although massively hard seems a little brittle?? Does it gain strength after curing over time?

Can anybody offer any advice on a more suitable resin for this application?

Where does the kit resin sit in the scale of hardness?

thanks in advance.

ok I'm moving on from Tinkercad to Fusion 360, or trying to :)

In tinkercad you can "edit grid" so I have been doing so for the build area of my printer.
Is there a way to do the same with Fusion 360 as I keep getting lost :)

A bit of a follow up post to my earlier one about this model: AN/PDR-1 RDF set in 1/35 scale.

I've finished it up. Base colors are airbrushed Tamiya paints with the details hand brushed using various acrylics (Citadel, Vallejo, etc.). This was followed up with artist oil paint washes and highlights.

The model is an original 3D design done with Tinker Cad and printed on my Photon. Total height is about 78 mm with the cross sections / diameters of the thin antenna rods, handles and "spikey" tripod feet at .5 mm.

A 1/35 scale model of the AN/PDR-1 Radio Direction Finding set.

Original design using Tinker CAD. Manual supports adding using B9 Creator and sliced with ChituBox. Manual supports were a combination of default medium and light with some "custom" light supports with .3mm dia contact areas at .2mm contact depth.

The design was made hollow with an open bottom and a locator hole in the top for the antenna base which also served as a vent / drain.

Elegoo Standard Gray resin. .02 mm layers. 8 bottom layers at 45s. 9.5s normal layer exposure.

To give an idea about the actual size of the model, the rods on the antenna, the handles on the radio, and the spikey feet on the tripod are all .5mm diameter / cross section.

SOS

I'm a newbie to 3D printing so I don't know how to describe the problem I am having. I got my printer in December and my first several prints turned out well. Some layer lines which I thought at the time were normal but now am not sure about. About 4 weeks ago through I ended up with a big problem.

I am getting strips of resin running through my prints, I also always end up with extra hardened resin on the bottom of my vat. for the life of me I can not figure out why.

Here are the things I've done so far to try and fix this.
1) I use the guide here for my resin times https://docs.google.com/…/1crvzMnt_8NJXAsABinoIhcOjE8…/edit…
2) I have further increased the exposure times to make sure no bits are flaking off
3) used 2 different USB sticks
4) I have reformatted both USB sticks
5) I have run a 3 minute LCD exposure test without seeing any flickering
6) I have tried 6 different prints
7) From 4 different sources (Tinkercad, HeroForge, Thingiverse, Fusion 360)
8) Using 4 different Anycubic brand resins (Grey, Skin, Orange, Yello)
9) I have used 2 different slicers (any cubic stock and Chitubox)
10) I have releveled the thing more times than I can count
11) I have cleaned the vat multiple times
12) I have replaced the FEP Film
13) I have checked all of the internal connectors to make sure they are secure
14) I have posted on Reddit and another facebook forum an been told that it might be my UV lamp but all the testing that I've done following their instructions my printer has passed with no issue.
15) I have been told I should watch my prints but I can't see them since the build plate is in the way.
16) I have printed them 90 degrees vertically and 45 degree tilt same situation both times. I have not been able to successfully do a 90 degree horizontal print as the dials always fall of o their supports even when i add about double the auto generated supports.

Support is out for New Years and I am at a total loss for how to do things any better than I am. The prints I'm attaching photos of are not complex prints they are essentially 3 cylinders.

Help would be greatly appreciated

Off the printer today - 1/35 scale, 500 gal. collapsible fuel drums (aka "blivets").

Elegoo standard gray,.02 layers, 8 bottom layers at 40s, 9.5s normal exposure, 6.5s off time. Manual supports added with B9, hollowed (2mm thick walls) and vent holes (3 x 4mm dia)added with 3D Builder, sliced with CTB 1.3.

The faceted artifacts are because I used TinkerCad to design the object, but those will smooth out with just a couple swipes with some 400 grit wet-or-dry sand paper.

I'm really loving this thing!

My latest print: a 1/72 scale, 10ft CONEX modified for emplacement as a bunker during the Vietnam war.

Did this in Elegoo Standard Gray, .02 layers, 10sec normal exposure time, 8 bottom layers with 40sec exposure time, and 6.5sec off time. About a 15 hour print.

I found the original design on Thingiverse, "A better 20ft shipping container" by 3Drails. The design was in HO (1/87) scale. I used TinkerCad to enlarge it, chop it up into a 10ft container, and add the wooded side door.

The original design was done in separate sides, ends, roof and floor, but I modified that into a single hollow part, open on the bottom with gussets added inside of each wall and end panel.

I got some very slight warping on the bottom edges of each end, but that will sand out when the supports are removed.

At .02 layers, this printed out very sharp and crisp.
