Second functional print with the printer. Had a FDM for years and I wish I didn't wait so long to get a resin.

Making a rear axle for my RC car. This is the axle housing.

Thought I would share my UV box idea.

Aluminum small trash can (foot pedal operated, easy to put models in without touching the outside and potentially getting resin/IPA on it) + UV light strands and some aluminum foil for the bottom.

I do plan on printing a translucent stand on my FDM printers to bring models up to the middle section (I'll be dealing mostly with 28mm models).

Enjoy the wacky idea lol.

Yesterday my Photon arrived. I have been printing with FDM printers for years but this is my first resin printer and it's all new to me. Last night I pulled it out of the box and immediately installed a 4" adapter with an exhaust fan into a carbon filter. Hopefully that will eliminate any odor issues out of the gate since my print table sits below my kids rooms.

I am about to go level it and try some test prints. What I am really looking for is post printing steps. I currently don't have an ultrasonic cleaner or any UV lights. I have a bunch of IPA (about 6 bottles) so I can clean them with that for now. I also have a couple bottles of mean green that lately I have seen some videos claiming that it works much better than IPA.

So just so I am clean, what are my post-print steps? Clean print in IPA or Mean Green, rinse in (water?), and for today I will put them out in the sun for curing (15 mins?).

I will probably be picking up an ultrasonic cleaner for ease of use but I might go grab a couple of those Sistema Pickle jars for now. Also any examples of a cheap UV setup would be great.

Lastly, regardless of what I use to clean off excess resin, how often do you guys replace it? If I am washing prints in a pickle jar with IPA, how often do I replace that IPA?

Hi to everyone, and thanks in advance if you are able to help me out in any way possible.
Ok, so I'm new to the whole sla printing, but I'm very familiar with fdm printing, my reason of getting this printer is to better my quality on my printed models in general, by combining fdm and sla printing in models I own. Most of my models can be really big, so I was wondering is there any information on how to scale my prints to fit the sla if I wanted to be able to print all the parts in sla? Or is it just a matter of cutting each part into a size that can fit the sla printer and just glue them all together? Or is there a better option I'm not aware of? Thanks again for any information and helping my noob self with this.

Fdm vs resin lithophanes comparison. Printed on back.
Original pic at top. 50mm dia

1. Fdm 3mm thick
2. Resin 5.5mm thick along with bumping original image contrast.
3. Resin 3mm thick
4. Resin 5mm thick

Resin:
0.025mm layer
Normal exp 15s
Off: 1s
Bottom exp: 50s
Bottom layer count: 20

Is this typical for resin to have less contrast?

Using Elegoo white.

Ok, let's talk about boxes.(fdm is fine but i want detail)

I'm an architect, have FDM printer + Photon + Shuffle XL.

Predominantly i will be printing 'boxes', I would like to have the maximum size possible.

Got some Phrozen Grey ABS today and it's much better but i'm struggling. Parts are warping even with massively heavy supports.

Splitting parts seems to be the way to go but lets go with the hive mind!

LCD SLA vs. FDM

I modified and printed a gecko wall hook from Thingiverse to hold up my hammock on the balcony. As a test I printed one with my i3 Mega and one with the photon. To my surprise, both are up to the challenge :D

The hammock is quite heavy and has a large iron chain attached that increases the weight even more. I always read online that resin prints are too brittle to be used for anything functional, but I guess you should never blindly take anyone's word who tells you stuff like that :)

The resin gecko is hollow with a lattice infill created with mesh mixer. Post cured at 60°C for 15 minutes.

Just thought I'd share, maybe someone finds this interesting to see :)

I'm new to this style of printing and would like some advice regarding supports on this model. I'd doesn't seem like I need to, but in the FDM world I would definitely need supports. Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks.

Can I use super glue (loctite gel) to glue AnyCubic Green resin to PLA? Essentially I printed a D&D miniature in resin but printed the circular base in PLA on my FDM printer and want to glue the mini to the base.

Hi folks, first timer here (though I've been printing with FDM for almost 2 years). Found the Photon on sale for $299 last night and finally had to pull the trigger. It should be here in about 10 days.

Wondering if there are any resources I should be checking out while I wait for delivery. I'd like to hit the ground running, as they say.
